Rehearsal 16 Nov

Good afternoon,
I hope you are all well.
Here is a message from Lillian regarding this week’s rehearsal:-

I’d like to continue rehearsing music in order, not necessarily every song, but that is the plan. I’d also like to see if we can add in some instruments in the next two weeks, and for me to have a chat with the soloists during the break this coming week.
Tidings of Comfort and Joy – try memorised, at least look up!
Wonderful Christmastime – add some jingle bells?
Brazilian Christmas – add maracas, claves, and bongos?
Gabriel’s message – harp sound on piano
Wexford Carol – organ sound on piano
Christmas Shopping blues – run through
Have Yourself a Merry Christmas
Last Christmas – Rebecca solo, no duet
The First Noel – add Emmy on flute?
This Christmas
Kindest regards,
Lillian
As you will see, she would like to try some instruments in the next two weeks, so I will arrange to get what we have in the lock-up ready for this week.
I will also enclose a copy of the programme that we will be using for the concerts so that you can make sure that you have your music in order.
For those who were not there last week, the costume for the Christmas concerts including the one at Applemore College will be as follows:-
Ladies:
Black/Dark Blue Sparkly Tops
Black Trousers
Black Pop Socks or Tights
Black Shoes (closed in toes)
Men:
Black Shirts
Blue Sparkly Bowties
Black Trousers
Black Socks
Black Shoes
We are looking for Raffle Prizes, so if you have anything that you can donate, please bring them in the next three weeks.
Tickets for our concerts are available from either the TicketSource website or from Sarah.
On the 21st December, when we have no need for a rehearsal, we are looking at holding a Social Evening instead, where we will provide coffee and tea, and you can bring along something to share.  There may some Mince Pies left over from the concerts.
Well, that’s all for now, so those of you at Local Vocals at Snowdrop Place on Tuesday, or the rest of you at rehearsal on Thursday.
Bye for Now.
Eric

Rehearsal this Thursday 9 Nov

Good afternoon to you all,

I hope that those of you who attended the Skittles Evening last night enjoyed yourselves and we will look forward to something similar in the new year.

Here is a message from Lillian regarding this week’s rehearsal:
Hello all,

This week, I’d like to run through the second half of the concert programme in order, including our audience participation songs.

Grown-Up Christmas
The First Noel/Pachelbel
This Christmas
Hark the Herald – CFC
From a Distance
Joy to the World – CFC
Let it Go
Believe
Merry Christmas, Everyone

Have a lovely weekend and fantastic week!
Lillian
Just a reminder that we have Local Vocals at Snowdrop Place on Tuesday afternoon, at the usual time of 1.45pm.
Also, we are still requiring help for the concerts for Front of House, Raffle and Kitchen, so if you know of someone who can help, please let me know.
We are also requiring a “Santa”, as Alan, who was going to do it, has problems with his leg and will not be fit enough to carry out the work, so we are looking for someone else.
Well, that’s all for now, so I will either see you on Tuesday, or Thursday.
Bye for Now.
Eric

Skittles Evening

Good morning to you all,
Just a reminder for those that are going to the Skittles tonight that it will start at 7.00pm, otherwise it makes it too late when we finish.
Also, we have Local Vocals on Tuesday afternoon at Snowdrop Place, Botley at the usual time.
Regards
Eric

Addition to Rehearsal

Hi there,
We will also be rehearsing this week the following carols which we will be singing with the audiences at our concerts:
O Little Town of Bethlehem
Silent Night
Twelve Days of Christmas
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Joy to the World
All of the above will be found in the “100 Corals” book.
Regards
Eric

Rehearsal 9 November

Good afternoon,

I hope you are not getting to wet with this miserable weather we are having at the moment.  It looks like it is going to rain for the next few days.

Well, on to business, here is a message from Lillian regarding this week’s rehearsal:-
Hello all,
Next week, we will be hearing solo auditions for the Christmas Concert. I’d like to run the first half of the program in concert order before 9pm.
Tidings of Comfort and Joy
Wonderful Christmastime
Brazilian Christmas
Gabriel’s Message
Mary Did You Know
Wexford Carol
Christmas Shopping values
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Last Christmas
I am so pleased with how the choir is sounding. Keep up the good work, and it makes such a difference when most of the members are at rehearsal at the same time!!
Kindest regards,
Lillian
Don’t forget the Skittles Evening on Saturday, 4th November, starting at 7.30pm.  You need to bring your own food and drinks.
As some of you have missed some of the rehearsals, I need to let you know that we are not doing the RVCP Carol Concert this year.  Due to how tight money is at the moment, we asked if they would pay us the cost of Chris and Lillian, but without coming back to us, they went and asked another choir to do the concert.
We do have another concert to take its place, with much the same format as the Carol Concert, but this will be held at Applemoor College, Dibden Purlieu, on Thursday, 14th December, at 7.30pm.  This will be instead of our normal rehearsal on the Thursday.
Well, that’s about it for this week, so I will see either on Tuesday, at Local Vocals at Netley Court, or at the rehearsal on Thursday.
Bye for now.
Eric

Rehearsal 26 October

Good morning to you all on this bright and sunny day,

Here is a message from Lillian regarding this week’s rehearsal:-
Hello all,
I’m pleased to hear we are sounding so well together. I’d like to finalise the small group for White Winter Hymnal so they can collect the music this week. Here is the list:
Basses – Eric and Phil
Tenors – Mike and Hilary
Sopranos 1 – Rebecca, Jane Nunez, and Elaine
Sopranos 2 – Marg, Beccy, and Sarah
Altos – Maureen, Beryl, and Maggie
Here is the rehearsal order for Thursday:
Wexford Carol
Last Christmas
The First Noel
From a Distance
Merry Christmas Everyone
Tidings of Comfort
Wonderful Christmastime
This Christmas
White Winter Hymnal
Christmas Shopping Blues (ladies only)
Have a lovely week,
Lillian
If you haven’t already signed up for the skittles on the 4th, the list will be on the table as you come in on Thursday, and can you pay the money straight into the choir’s bank account with the reference: Skittles.
We are also looking a small number of raffle prizes which do not have to be the usual gifts! I will leave that to your imagination.
As we are getting nearer to our Christmas concerts, we are now looking for help on the day, such as Front of House and in the Kitchen.  If you know of anyone that can help, please let one of the Committee Members know.
Well, that’s about all for now , so I will see you either at Local Vocals on Tuesday at Florence Court, or at rehearsal on Thursday.
Bye for now.
Eric

Request for Local Vocals

It’s me again,
Eunice has had an email from the Hants & IOW Dementia Support Group asking if it is possible for the Local Vocals to sing at two of their Christmas events.
The first would be on Thursday, 21st, and the second the following day on the 22nd December.
The first one is being held in Fareham, and the second one in Eastleigh, and both will be held at Lunch time.  The Fareham one is for around 40 people and the Eastleigh is for around 50.
I know we are already singing at Snowdrop Place on the 20th, but I will ask for a show of hands this evening to see if we have enough people to make it worthwhile.
As an enticement, there will tea and mince pies available at both.
Another thing that I need to remind people, is that if you are feeling unwell with a cough or cold, please do not attend a rehearsal while you are feeling that way, as Covid is still about and we have several members that have a lower immune system.
Well, that’s all for now, so I will see you tonight.
Bye for now.
Eric
