Tomorrow’s Rehearsal

Good afternoon,

Thanks to all those that came to the library this afternoon, it seems like we were well received, and they are going to advertise that we are looking for more men.

Well, at this week’s rehearsal we will be doing the second half of the programme, but please bring the rest of your music in case we have some time at the end.
There’s No Business Like Show Business
Singing in the Rain
A Million Dreams
The Bare Necessities
A Whole New World
When You Believe
You Raise Me Up
Mamma Mia!

As we are now preparing for the Summer Spectacular we will be looking for people to make some cakes, and Ellie will have a spreadsheet so you can see what we need.  We are also looking for some nice raffle prizes for the draw.

The uniform will be the same as we wore for the Summer Concerts – ladies in their pink tops and black trousers and men in white shirts, black trousers and their dark pink bowties.

Well, that’ all for now, so I will see you tomorrow evening.

Bye for now.

Eric

This Week’s Rehearsal

Good afternoon,

I hope you are not getting too frizzled with this weather, it is getting rather warm at the moment.

Any rate, down to business, we will be rehearsing the first half of the Summer Spectacular this Thursday, which means we will be singing the following songs:-
Sing, Sing, Sing
Viva La Vida
Somewhere Only We Know
All I Ask of You
Music of the Night
Why We Sing
Your Song
One
Pinball Wizard
Thanks to those that turned out for the Local Vocals yesterday afternoon, we were certainly well received, so much so that we have been asked to sing at some of the other Barchester Homes, but Eunice will give you the rest of the information.
Our next outing is the Hedge End Library next Wednesday, 21st, and Eunice will again will you in on the details for this.
Well, that’s all for now, so I will see you all next week as I have another meeting which I must attend this Thursday.
Bye for now.

Summer Spectacular

Good afternoon,

After a bit of deliberation, we have a programme for the Summer Spectacular which we will be holding on the 15th July, at Hedge End Village Hall.
I have included a copy of the programme so you will know what music you will need.  We have taken some songs from Saturday’s concerts and added some of our other ones which we sang at Bitterne URC, back in April.
Some of our newer members might not have all of the music, so if you let me know your number, and I will arrange to get the music you are missing ready for Thursday.
At this week’s rehearsal we will be practicing the following songs:-
Sing, Sing, Sing
Pinball Wizard
A Million Dreams
You Raise Me Up
Mamma Mia – but leaving out “Take a Chance”
When You Believe
Please bring the rest of the music in case we have anytime left at the end of the rehearsal.
We will be sitting in the same positions we were sat in for the concerts on Saturday, so I will have a look at the photos that were taken and have a seating plan ready for Thursday.
It has also been agreed that when Lillian is away on the 29th June and the 6th July, Chris will be taking the rehearsal, and the rehearsals will finish at 9.00 to give the soloists a chance to have a practice with Chris.
Well, I think that’s all for now, so see you on Thursday, if your not away on holiday, walking in the Canary Islands, or Sicily, or where ever.
Bye for now.

Fwd: Fantastic Programme!

Good morning to you all,

I hope you have recovered from Saturday’s hectic schedule, it was rather a long day.
I enclose a message I have received from Lillian:-

Dear Choir,
I am so pleased with your performance yesterday. You’ve really are how a choir can sound when well-prepared, engaged, and enthusiastic! I thought both audiences were very receptive and I received many positive comments from audience-members, including from the parents of the children’s choir. The children were particularly happy to hear When You Believe from the Prince of Egypt, and You’ve Got a Friend in Me. And other parents commented on The Holy City being their favourite!!
I look forward to continuing rehearsing on Thursdays in preparation for our Summer Spectacular! We will be doing many of the same songs, but also adding in some music from the Private Concert Party programme.
Bravi all to a concert well-sung. I particularly loved the ends of all the pieces, when the intonation and tone quality really shone through. The children would love to be back again next year, too. I would love your feedback on having them join our concert.
Congratulations!
Lillian
The Committee are in the throws of putting together a programme for the Summer Spectacular which will include songs from our concerts on Saturday, together with some that we sang at the Bitterne URC back in April. I will let you know as soon as possible what we will be rehearsing this Thursday.

I will be in touch.

Bye for now.

Necklaces for the Ladies

Hi there,

Something we forgot to say is to ask the ladies to either wear the pink necklace if you have been issued with one, if not wear a sliver necklace but nothing to chunky.
Goodnight and I will see you all tomorrow.
Bye
Eric

This Week’s Rehearsal

Good afternoon,

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful weather we are having at the moment, it really is nice to see the sun out and staying warm in the garden. The only downfall is that the plants need watering each day, especially the younger ones.

Anyhow, down to business.  Just a reminder that we will be rehearsing at KCC this week and if possible can you get there a little earlier than usual so that we can sort out where everyone is going to sit.

Can you also make sure you have your music in the right order, as per the list enclosed, and in you “Concert” folder.  If you do not have a “Concert” folder can you let me know, and I will bring one for you on Thursday.

On Saturday, we will need a hand in setting up the rostra which we hope to have there by 10.00am, together with our own rostra which needs putting together, and the piano etc.

If you have done your request for Fish & Chips, can you contact Eunice and let her know asap.

Well, that’s all for now, so I will see you on Thursday, all being well.

Regards

Eric

This Week’s Rehearsal

Good morning,

This is just a reminder that we will be going with the programme that has already been sent out for this week’s rehearsal.
We do not have Sophie with us this week so we will not be able to sing Chris’s four songs.
We need to sell some more tickets for both concerts, so if you have anyone you can twist their arms into coming, it will be very much appreciated.
Also, we are looking for some good prizes for the raffles, and if you feel that you cannot afford to donate a prize, perhaps you could go in with another member to provide a prize.
We are still looking for a replacement Secretary as Eunice is standing down as our Secretary, but she will be staying on the Committee as the Local Vocals Rep, so if you think you would like to take up the challenge, come and speak to either Eunice or myself.
Well, that’s all for now.
See you later.
Eric

This Week’s Rehearsal

Good morning to you all,

This week we will be carrying on with the programme in the order that we will be singing them at our concerts on the 3rd June.
We have Sophie with us for the first part of the rehearsal, so we will concentrate on the four songs that Chris will be conducting, which are:-

The rest of the programme is a follows:-
It’s A Grand Night for Singing – from memory with Lillian conducting
All I ask of you
Music of the Night

Viva La Vida
Mamma Mia
There’s No Business Like Show Business
A whole New World
Wherever You Are
The Holy City
Summertime
Shenandoah
When You Believe
Simon & Garfunkel Medley
Why We sing
Clare Benediction
Can you please make sure you have your music in order as that will save time when we move between the various songs.
Our rehearsal on the 1st June will be at KCC, starting at the normal time of 7.30pm.
We are looking for prizes for the raffle, so if you have anything that you can donate, please bring them along to the rehearsals and give them to Eunice.
The Music Committee met least night and we have decided on a programme for the Christmas Season. We had a number of suggestions from you, and we have tried to pick at least one from each of your suggestions. We will let you know that songs we will be singing in due course.
Well, that’s all for now, so I will see you on Thursday.
Bye for now.
Eric

Memorisations

Good morning,

Further to my email yesterday, I have received some queries as to which songs we are going to be singing from memory.
I have been in touch with Lillian, and she has confirmed that we will be singing the following songs from memory at our Summer Concerts:-
Its a Grand Night for Singing
The Bare Necessities
On a Clear Day
Your Song
One.
We will be practising “Your Song” this week and do “One” next week.
We will not be doing the two songs from Phantom – Music of the Night and All I Ask of You.
Hope this clears up any queries.
Regards
Eric
