REHEARSAL 3RD JUNE

Hi All
Just to let you know in advance we will not be having a zoom rehearsal this Thursday 3rd June. It is half term and people are away and we thought we would have a little break. We will probably tag another one on at the end of July.
Hopefully weather permitting we will have a rehearsal at Natalies on the 10th and the 17th. And then we will have to see what the government has planned for us after the 21st June.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend lets hope the sun keeps shining.

SINGING OUTSIDE LAST NIGHT!!

Hi
This is the post that has been put on facebook for those who don’t follow and also two recordings that Lillian made.
I have said my thank you’s to everyone but I would like to really againthank those that came and stuck to all of the rules, it was lovely to see you all and great that we could catch up and sing together at last.  We are unable to meet outside next week as Natalie is on holiday but we are planning to the following week 10th June.  So watch this space.  Special thanks to Natalie for the use of her garden hope we didn’t flatten your beautiful lawn too much!!

“We finally made it after 63 weeks of not singing together and it all happened last evening.  We have been joining on zoom every week since lockdown but last night we were able to see one another for the first time and the sun shined.  It was lovely to actually hear others singing alongside you albeit from a distance but very emotional and fulfilling.
What a joy to see friends in person after such a long time and to see them looking so well.  Many thanks to the subcommittee who worked hard on the logistics for this to happen, getting  the comprehensive risk assessment compiled and making sure everyone was suitably socially distanced with all of the necessary precautions. Thanks to Lillian and Chris for being flexible with the arrangements and thank you to the choir for sticking to all of the guidelines although I am sure what we all wanted was a group hug 🤗.  We will carry on with outside rehearsals weather permitting until the government lift the ban of only 6 amateur singers being able to sing indoors. Let’s hope it is not too long!!  🎶 🎶 🎶”

NMM Risk assessment – Outdoor Rehearsals – Updated May 2021.pdf

Hi All
Here is the risk assessment specifically for singing outside. There will be changes for when we can sing inside.
Pleas can you read and let me know if you have any queries.
I would like to thank the sub committee for all of their work that has taken place to enable us to sing together and especially Natalie for letting us use her garden.
There will be another email tomorrow and it is important that you read that, apologies it is all so long winded but we want to get things right.

WEEK +11 https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09 Meeting ID: 816 9136 7380 Passcode: Gold

Hi All

It’s stopped raining 🌧⛈🌧 Horrarh!!!   The water butts are overflowing the fish pond was full, it’s got a crack in it 🥴 and the garden doesn’t need watering just yet.

Well hopefully if the weather stays the same we will have our first get together for 63 weeks!!!  This week would have been the last rehearsal before our Summer Concert at the weekend.  Actually we probably wouldn’t have had it this weekend as it is a bank holiday but you know what I mean.

So we are going back to being together and there are no birthday people to sing too, it will never be the same after singing it on zoom 🎶

I hope some of you managed to catch the live funeral service for Brian Garner. The webcast should be available to see three days after the service and available for 28 days.  Some of the New Music Makers did go to the funeral to pay our respects and we were very pleased that we did actually manage to get inside for the service as there were exactly the right amount of seats left.  Roy did  a wonderful job for his old friend Brian who he had being singing next to for over 30 years. It was very moving to see him and Roy on the screen singing You Raise Me Up and also the The Lord is my Shepherd. Brian did have a wicked sense of humour and wanted Roy to read his words and he complained to him saying could you hurry up please because this box was hurting his back.  If you want to donate money in Brian’s memory could you donate directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.

RIP Brian Garner 28.11.37 – 4.5.21
No Tears Please – Only Smiles    That was on his order of service guess what it has made me cry typing it.

THIS WEEKS REHEARSAL OUTSIDE

Can you please start arriving at 6.35.  To avoid crossover of voices could the sopranos arrive first to be seated followed by the Men staying together either as Bass or Tenor and then the Altos.  Can you not come in until you have been asked to by Natalie or Eric.Watch out for tomorrows email for all of the details and health notices.  One of the recommendations is people to have a have a Lateral Flow Test within 36 hours of coming to a rehearsal and they are free to get from most chemists and it does give you a peace of mind to know that the test is negative.

I have sent all of the details but a reminder

YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE
LET THE RIVER RUN
ONE VOICE
SIMON AND GARFUNKEL
WEST SIDE STORY
CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT
WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN

JOIN ZOOM MEETING. Starting at 6.45 pm

We are hoping to zoom the rehearsal technology allowing.   You can log in about 6.45 pm and catch everyone moving to their seats.  It won’t be quite so one to one but you hopefully you will be able to sing along with the rest of the choir.  If we have to cancel the meeting outside we will have the zoom at the normal time of 7.30pm. We will let you know in plenty of time if it is cancelled so please check your emails during the day.

Hopefully see you tomorrow on zoom or in person.  I will be emailing the risk assessment today.  TomorrowIt will be a reminder of the rules and regulations and the Health Checklist please read these before coming to the rehearsal.  Apologies for so many rules and regs but it is required and we want everyone to feel safe and enjoy the evening. Hopefully, if we can do it again, it will not be so complicated as we will all know what we are doing.

Outside Singing – WHAT AM I SINGING – HOW DO I GET THERE?

Hi All – again
Thanks to those people who have replied.  Please let me know if you are attending if you haven’t done so already.
Apologies there will be a lot of emails but once we have done one hopefully it will all be easier.
So we are singing:-
YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE
LET THE RIVER RUN
ONE VOICE
SIMON & GARFUNKEL
WEST SIDE STORY
CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT
WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN

Natalie has sent these directions and there is a google map attached.

In terms of directions, I would suggest coming into Botley village and turning left into Winchester Street towards Boorley Green and we are the last detached house on the left at the brow of the hill. Attached is a photo of my home and a view of the surrounding on-street parking in Holmesland Drive and Pern Drive that is a short walk into Winchester Street via the front or back gates.  I would ask that you all be considerate to neighbours when parking and don’t block driveways etc. also.

Also that anyone coming from Bishops Waltham/Wickham direction that Mill Hill is still closed because of the burst water main.

REHEARSAL THURSDAY OUTSIDE 27/5/21 – NEEDS A REPLY ASAP

Hi All

We are going to try and meet up together this Thursday 27th OUTSIDE!!  Natalie has very kindly offered to let us meet in her lovely garden at 79 Winchester Street Botley S030 2EB.

There is parking around and about and Eric is devising a map (to follow) so that you can find the best place to park, even better if you have a kind partner who will drop you off and pick you up! Although Natalie has got parking at the front of her house we will need that for Chris who is bringing his keyboard etc and Lillian to make sure that she has a spot in case she is delayed.  If anyone has a disability badge let us know and we will try and find you somewhere close.

Everything will be in place with Government requirements with a risk assessment for you to see before we can go ahead. (To Follow)

Because of the  light especially as it has been so miserable lately we thought it would be better to start at 7.00pm.  But we will need everyone seated and ready to go by then so if  people could start arriving 6.35pmthat would be very helpful.  We will rehearse for approximately one hour.

Natalie has an annex in the garden which does have a toilet if you need to use it.

THINGS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING

Your Music – details to follow

CAMPING TYPE CHAIR – There will be a marker on the ground for you to place it over.

MASK – Please arrive in a mask and wear it until we start singing.   If you feel comfortable not singing with a mask then please feel free to take it off when we sing but replace it if you move around and when we leave.

DRINK There will be no refreshments so please bring your own drink if you require one.

HAND SANITIZER  – There will be sanitizer for when you arrive but please bring your own for personal use.

WARM CLOTHES – Remember we are outside it could/will get chilly.

Once you are settled in your seat please do not move and speak to other members of the choir.  You can talk to people around you but please do not get up to chat to others and no physical contact with anyone before during or after the rehearsal.

Everyone will be 2 meters apart  and please keep 2 meters apart when arriving and leaving the rehearsal.

Sorry about all of the rules but if we want to try and have some sort of rehearsal we will have to stick to the guidelines and we want everyone to feel safe and comfortable around other people.  If anyone does not feel comfortable during the rehearsal please feel free to leave.  There will probably be more rules so please read all of the emails that I will be sending over the next couple of days.

We need to know who and how many people will be coming on Thursday please can you let me know if you are intending to participate.

People who have already replied and are attending.
Rosie Adams, Peter Blake, Marg Dunne, Eunice Deauchar, Roger Estcourt, Jerry Gamble, Beryl and Eric Gerrey, Keith Henry, Natalie Hepple, Roy Hogben, Lin Kellaway, Percy Knight, Maureen Pay, Sarah Turl,

Apologies if I have missed you off

I have also heard from some people who are unable to attend.

Please let me know asap if you are interested in attending.
