Hi All Again

Well this week zoom is a bit of an experiment, especially on my part and if it all goes pear shaped we will have a Christmas Quiz and Chris will sing us out with some Christmas songs.
SO

THE TRAILER – play this first!
THE POSTER – open if it has not come on your device opened

OH YES WE ARE! we are revisiting one of the many Pantomimes that NMM produced this one is from 2007.  Thanks to Martin Small who left us his collection of videos that he took we can now air it for the first time.  It is a very family friendly show so invite all your friends and relatives round to watch it. OH KNOW WE’RE NOT! We will have to watch it on our own with our own family bubble in our own houses ☹️.  But please feel free to pass the link on AFTER we have aired it at 7.45 pm on Thursday and PLEASE DO NOT PUT ON ANY SOCIAL MEDIA PAGE EVER.  I will be sending it out to past members who were in the choir at the time and other people who were involved in the next few days.
The idea is the link below will enable you to log in as interested, even give you a reminder and the show will start at 7.45 pm.  Hopefully you will be able to watch it on another device and still be on zoom. You should be able to write remarks on the youtube link?
It will run straight through without an interval so make sure you are sitting comfortably with snacks and maybe a glass of wine that will last you just over and hour.  If you want to dress up as  PIRATES that would be amazing, if you want to wear a CHRISTMAS JUMPER  that would be great, I guess if you want to be in your dressing gown, you can it is your house.  But do remember you are on Zoom 😝
If you only have one means of watching and can’t do zoom at the same time we will be staying on afterwards for a chat so come and join us on zoom.  If you just want to watch it without zoom, fine as well we hope you will enjoy and be something different to do on a Thursday evening.
THE PROGRAMME

Mon Beale
Galia Harrison
Di Heathorn
John Sillence
Martin Small
John Smart
Pat Smart
Colin Wilkinson
They were all involved in the making and performing of Pirates of Christmas Island.
Many apologies if I have missed anyone please let me know if I have.
THANK YOU
My thanks to Chris (my very long suffering husband) who is going through all of the videos and recording them so we will have  a permanent record.  He also edited the pantomime for your enjoyment.
FOOT NOTE
The choir was involved in all of the pantomimes and they usually sang some pieces at the beginning and at the end of each performance. They also joined in very verbally with all of the audience participation’s pieces.

WEEK 39. PAGE 1

Hi All
This Thursday would have been the last rehearsal before our Concerts on Saturday. We would have been running through the programme with Lillian buying our last minute tickets from Sarah, Bringing in Raffle Prizes, getting excited to wear our Golden tops and ties again and putting that gold tinsel on our folders and making sure we had ordered our fish and chips for the the interval. But alas not this year. First time for fifty years. Hopefully it will happen next year and it will make us appreciate it twice as much.
We have a birthday this week Audrey Brown a Soprano is on the 15th. Audrey has been in the choir for many years and is a very active member joining in most of the fun that the choir produces. She has been known to go away on some amazing holidays with her family for her birthday (and break her arm when she is there! ) I guess not this year but we hope you have a lovely day however you can spend it. {CAPTION}

Taken at the Olde Time Musical – looking lovely Audrey!
{CAPTION}

An actions shot of the sopranos I wonder what they are singing or are they catching flies? Have a great day Audrey.
Lillian is busy editing all of our videos ready for the virtual concert which should be airing next Thursday details will follow with links as soon as we have them.
Thanks to Chris for last weeks zoom call where we did a ‘guess the intro’of Christmas songs and then we had a christmas singalong. It was great fun I was rubbish at most of the quiz apart from questions like ‘Frosty the Snowman” and the like but although I knew the words of several of the others, I could not remember the title of the songs. Some of the members were brilliant well done I am glad you were on my team.
I came across last years board with the christmas greetings from choir members who donated instead of sending Christmas Cards. This was my Greeting {CAPTION}

I got that wrong didn’t I? Will change that to 2021 and keep my fingers crossed.
This weeks Thursdays Zoom we have something completely different!!!!!
Oh No we Haven’t?
O Yes we Have?
Oh no We Haven’t?
Oh Yes we Have?
Oh just go and read my next email !!!!

Week 38 – December Already

Hi All

By golly gosh it is December already where has this year gone?  Don’t bother answering that!!

It is Margaret Whales Birthday on Tuesday 8th December.  Margaret is an Alto and has been in the choir for many years and I have known her from way before that.  For those that may not be aware she is Becci Coppen’s mum. It is lovely to have them both in the choir together.  I was trying to find some photographs of when Margaret was in the pantos, although you may have to wait to see those, but I did manage to find some that she may remember. One maybe not quite so much 😆

image2.jpeg
Have a great day Margaret.

Well done all of you that managed to get your recordings in to Lillian. She is busy working at putting it all together.

I hope those of you who didn’t sing have managed to send Lillian a photograph of yourselves to be included in the video.

Leading up to Christmas, the zoom calls will have a different format. This week Chris is going to do an intro quiz for us and also we will have a general fun sing-a-long of Christmas songs.  I will  send a song sheet of words separately, if you can put them on another device and read them it will save you printing them off.  We have done some of them in the choir so you can harmonise away to your hearts content and no one will know if you get it wrong.  Or you could make up your own harmonies and it wont matter if they don’t work!!

I forgot Natalies birthday last week although we did sing to her on the zoom call.  So I hope you had a lovely day.

image1.jpeg

It is Pete Kilby’s Birthday on the 30th November.  Pete is a Bass and joined the choir in February 2017.
Hope you have a good day Pete.  (Note to self  really must get on with making those blue bow ties less droopy!)

I have some sad news I am afraid Helga Baker has passed away.  Those who have been in the choir for a time will know of Helga. She was very involved when we twinned with the  German Choir when Helga was our interpreter and used to do our compering for us and joined us when we went to Germany.  She also ran the QE2 club which sadly has now folded. We used to go to their club and put on concerts and they also were a big part of the audience when we sang at St Edwards Church in Netley Abbey.
If you would like to see/hear Helga’s funeral service here are the details- Monday 1 December at 12.15 . at Wessex Vale.

CHRISTMAS VIRTUAL CONCERT

AWAY IN A MANGER
Here is a nice idea for our Virtual Concert.  To add the ‘ahhhh’ factor how about getting your children/grandchildren/young nieces nephews and friends to record ‘“Away In a Manger”.   They would have to do it the same way as the adults with singing to the backing track with earphones in.  Apologies for the short time get it done.  The backing track is below.  Thanks Jerry. It is your onedrive backing track.

Well done those that have already submitted your recordings just a reminder to those that still need to send them in by next Tuesday.  I still have mine to do, by the time I had set it all up in the dining room it was tea time!!  Fingers crossed 🤞 for tomorrow.

It would be really nice to see recordings from other choir members for Hark The Herald, We wish you a Merry Christmas and the finale The Most Wonderful Time of The Year.

The Virtual Concert will be aired on Thursday 17th December evening.  Details to follow on how you can access it.
