Hi All

I hope you are all keeping safe.
At least the weather is helping this horrible time, we have been out in the garden tidying and getting the new summer house ready.
Thank you everyone that replied about my email about subs, very much appreciated your positive responses.
We have two birthdays this week Margaret Hockey is on the 27th

I don’t know who that chap is but Margaret is in the beautiful golden ensemble.  Whats tickled Louise?

And Jerry Gamble is on the 28th.

Sorry it’s only small, but you look just like Father Christmas.

I hope you both have a good day.  It will be different but it can still be special.

You just need to click on the link a little before the time and you should be able to get through.  I am going to try it on my laptop tonight apparently it works better on that??
We shall see if I can manage it.
We can go around and see if everyone can say a few words if they want, if you put your hand up I will try and ask you to speak.  And then we can have a little bit of a singalong.  Chris can mute us all but it also is best if you can mute yourselves otherwise we can all hear you!!!
We shall try and sing Que Sera Sera and Sing Sing Sing (you should have the music for that if you don’ know it already).

9. QUE SERA SERA

When I was just a little girl,

I asked my mother what shall I be?

Will I be pretty, will I be rich?

Here’s what she said to me.

Chorus

Que sera sera whatever will be will be

The future’s not ours to see

Que sera sera.  What will be will be.

When I grew up and fell in love,

I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead?

Will we have rainbows day after day?

Here’s what my sweetheart said.

Chorus

Now I have children of my own,

They ask their mother what will I be?

Will I be handsome will I be rich?

I tell them tenderly.

Que sera sera whatever will be will be

The future’s not ours to see

Que sera sera.  What will be will be.

Que sera sera.

Keep singing and smiling.

Fwd: Zoom meeting

Hi All

Chris has set up some more ZOOM dates.
Thanks Chris.
He has suggested that I lead the conversations so will give it a go with his help.  I did manage to see all the faces on my ipad when we did it with Sing4Fun I think I was on the wrong wifi.
Perhaps people could put their hands up when they would like to speak. It would be nice to hear how people are doing and what they are doing to keep them occupied.
Lets see how it goes.  Looking forward to seeing you all  already.
Lin

Hi Lin

I’ve set up a weekly catch up for New Makers for Thursday at 7:30pm for anyone who wants to join.
For those using a computer and windows (which is the best way to do this) click on this link and it will guide you through setting up an account.
For those using a tablet/phone download the “Zoom” app first (it looks like a blue video camera) and then click on this link to access our video conversation on a Thursday night.
For this to work with so many people it is best if only one person speaks at a time (Lin – why don’t you lead through a conversation).
We can sing together but this only works if you mute yourself and only hear me.  If everyone can be heard there is too much delay.
Hope this helps keep spirits up at this time.
Take care
Chris
Chris Allison is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

NMM

Hi All

Hope all is well in your households.

We would just like to have a word to you all about our subscriptions now that we are unable to have rehearsals.

There is nothing in our rules and constitution  about paying subs if we are unable to have rehearsals, who could have predicted this?

Our subscriptions generally pays for hall rental, general running like insurance the lock up and pays for our musicians, Lillian, Chris and any sectional pianists.

Our Concerts, which unfortunately we will not be able to have this year  pay for other equipment, music, uniform and  tops up the running costs if  the subs don’t cover it.

We are fortunate that we do not have to pay for the Hall during our shut down and again we do not have anything in our constitution to say what we should do about the musicians.

We are hoping that those that can, will carry on paying our subs so that we can carry on paying Chris and Lillian.

It is obviously a worrying time for everyone especially the self employed and it would be nice for them if we could help a little with their worries.

I think you will all agree that all of our musicians do an amazing job and we want them back as soon as we can and hopefully this gesture will show them how much we appreciate what they do for the New Music Makers.

We also realise that some of us may be having financial difficulties and we would like to offer you the opportunity to have a break from paying your subscriptions until your financial circumstances are better.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any concerns.

Regards to all

Hi All

Hi Everyone
Hope everyone is doing ok.
We had our live link up last night which was fun and made us all giggle, mostly we all said oh look, there’s someone, and waved at them, some we couldn’t hear so they were waving bits of paper at us and some I never saw but others did. Thanks Chris for trying to get us to use modern technology. Hopefully we will do better!
We did manage to sing Happy Birthday to Louise it was her birthday yesterday, 🎂 with the time delay it was a funny rendition but meant well.
It is Mary Gunns Birthday on Sunday so Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to Mary Happy Birthday to you.💐 x
And to all of the Mums, it will definitely not be what was planned but I hope you all have a lovely day and are spoilt some how 🌹 🍷 🥂 🍫 🧁 🍰 🍾 🌷.
Keep safe and well.

New Music Makers

Hi All

Missing you already.  It will be a strange Thursday without seeing you all but we have an experiment?
Hope you are all safe and well.
Firstly there is a Whatsapp group and I have been able to invite everyone who is already on Whatsapp  and I had their mobile number.  If you would like to join and are already on Whatsapp then send me your mobile number and I will add you.
If you want to join Whatsapp go to the link https://whatsapp.com/dl/ and join and let me know also adding your mobile number.
Looking forward to hearing from.
Also some more excitement Chris Allison has been working on an app which means that we can all talk/sing together. Being a complete Luddite  not sure how this is going to work but am looking forward to 7.30pm this evening, see Chris’s email below:-

Hi Lin
I was just experimenting with an app called zoom for Sing4fun which allows a group conference video call.  I’ve set up a 30 minute meeting (any longer than that and I’d have to pay!) for New Music Makers tomorrow evening at 7:30. –  (this is tonight now) We don’t have to sing (although can try it if we want!) but it will allow whoever wants to to have a group video call.
For anyone who hasn’t used zoom before they ought to click the link 5-10 mins before so they can download zoom if using a tablet or phone.

Hope you are all keeping ok.

NMM Rehearsals

Hi All
It is with regret that I have to tell you that we will not be rehearsing for the foreseeable future due to the recent announcements from the Government about Social Gatherings. And even if the situation is better by the time our Concerts are due we will be under rehearsed and it would not be fair to put on a substandard performance.
It is a great shame and I am sure we will all miss our Thursday evenings, but we all have to try and stay safe and well.
Look after yourselves and keep in touch.
Regards
Lin

Corona virus

Hi All

Something to think about:-

You will all be aware of the developing situation regarding the Corona virus. Within our choir, we have members who fit the definition of vulnerable groups. Our rehearsals take place in an environment where we are close to others and singing projects our breathing outwards and we take deep breaths in – both of which increase the risk of virus transfer.

We certainly should not overreact, but  we should all be mindful of the steps we can take to limit the risk of transferring the virus within and outside the choir.

The advice given by Health England is that we should all increase the frequency of hand washing and we should avoid getting within 3 feet of anyone who is coughing or sneezing.

We would ask that if you cough or sneeze that you do so into a handkerchief, or – if you can’t get your hankie out in time – into the crook of your arm. Then avoid hand contact until you have washed your hands. If you feel you are developing a cough or cold, we ask that you stay away from rehearsals until you are feeling better/not sneezing.

By taking these simple common sense steps we limit the risk of transferring both Corona virus and other coughs and colds – so we will all hopefully stay healthier – which can’t be a bad thing.
