Subject: Thank you for the baby gift

Dear Lin and Choir,

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers, card, and music spoon delivered today! Baby Lucilla is growing well, sleeping, and eating perfectly. I am so pleased with the reports of how things went and so wished I could have been there. Life is getting busier and more complicated with four children! If anyone has any videos or recordings they could share of the concert, I would love to hear how you all sounded. Many thanks to Chris for taking over and his amazing talents and effort put into the Golden Concert! We are blessed to have such a great assistant MD and accompanist. Well done to all who made it happen! Can’t wait to be back 🙂

All the best,
Lillian

Dear Linda and New Music Makers

On behalf of Maureen and myself may I say thank you very much for the privilege of being part of the New Music Makers Golden Anniversary celebrations. Reminiscing and nostalgia are words that described the feelings a few of us had yesterday. The programme was an inclusive celebration with choir members sharing their stories of the past and present in amongst old and new songs (and then there was Tom!).  As Chris Allison remarked, music and singing together affects the way we feel about ourselves, especially with the crises that we are living through today. I always told my choirs that you must learn the music with your heads and sing it from your heart and the listener will respond and give back to you and so the full circle of ‘performance’ is complete.

Please convey my congratulation to the choir and to the superb musicians who made the evening so enjoyable (not forgetting your husband for his important contribution).

Keep singing, and I raise my glass to the next 50 years.

Best wishes

Stuart

Fwd: A Message from Chris

Hi All

Sorry a bit delayed this is a message from Chris.
Hi

What a great day yesterday! Thank you to everyone for all your hard work in putting this concert together. It was the best I’ve heard us sing so many of those songs and the whole day was a brilliant celebration of who the New Music Makers are and everything we’ve done so far! Hope you have a restful day today and look forward to seeing you Thursday to start work on our Summer concert 🙂

Hi All

I did send the list out of the possible  songs we will be singing at the Summer Spectacular but you have probably forgotten or lost that email!  So can you bring all of these pieces with you every week.  Chris will be concentrating on the ones that we have reintroduced this week.   I realise that Ellie and Emmy will not have them, but don’t fear you will get them at some stage.

Don’t forget to let Chris know if you would like to do a solo, duet, group song, monologue (after the inspiration from Tom).

I do know that a lot of you are planning holidays in June could you let Eunice know (she does the register each week). I personally am away for a number of weeks so will see you when I get back.

Another reminder there will not be any choir next Thursday 2nd June as it is a Bank Holiday – something to do with the Queen apparently.

Dear Lin

Can you please forward this message to our choir members.

Dear choir

Jenny and I would like to say thank you for your totally unexpected card and kind get well wishes that we received yesterday, together with a taster of the lovely cake and a plant, kindly delivered by courtesy of Maureen.  We watched the afternoon performance on Zoom along with Louise, Pat and Elaine and enjoyed it immensely, despite feeling disappointed that I couldn’t be there singing with you all.    You were brilliant and put on a first rate performance, confirmed by our friends who attended the evening concert and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We are both working our way through ‘long covid’ which has affected our breathing, and in my case my voice, a situation not helped by having asthma too.   Nevertheless I’m looking forward to being back with the choir as soon as possible and hopefully sing at our July concert.

Looking forward to seeing you all again

Best wishes

Percy

Gold Concerts

Hi All
Just a quick note to you all to say congratulations, we did it! So many nice comments from people in the audience. Somehow it all came together after so many two years of setbacks but everyone was amazing and wow I loved those gold tops only got a quick glimpse of us all together on the stage we may have to supply sunglasses.
Thanks to Chris he went over and beyond yesterday, staying all day and helping with the setting up and there till the end. Thanks for keeping us motivated through everything I hope you agree that it paid off. Thanks to Ed and Sophie, you were great shame the keyboard played up in “Do You Hear the People Sing” 😆.
Thanks to The Front of House Team, Martyn, Cliff and Roger, I didn’t hear of any problems so you must have sorted them all.
Thank you also to Isaac for all that he did technically and for compiling all the photos, videos etc. for the display and also to his Mum, Sarah, for all that she did before, during and after the show.
Thanks to the committee for their contributions, money, display board, fish and chips, clearing up and everything else they do.
I would like to thank my Chris for everything you did especially for popping out and getting the batteries for the mics; make a note everyone that batteries do go out of date!
Special thanks to Eric, he worked like a Trojan from Friday when we picked up the equipment, organising the rostra and setting up and then taking it down. And running the box office, amongst other things.
I hope I have got everyone, apologies if I missed anyone ☹️
So folk we did it. We have at last been able to sing together. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. And wasn’t it lovely seeing so many old friends in the audience.

V4 RUNNING ORDER.pdf

Hi All

Well done everyone for last nights rehearsal, it was really good to be able to have it at KCC to get a feel of the place and try the seating out.  I know some of the ones at the back were struggling to see Chris but hopefully when he is on the podiums and there will be a bit more room between the seats you will be able to move into a space to see.

I have revamped the running order (attached)  with I hope (don’t shoot me if I have got it wrong) the songs that we will be singing with or without words.  I know it is difficult to remember which ones but can you try and find a system to help you.

Basically this is what we are doing.

GOLD – WITHOUT

JOSEPH – WITH

I BELIEVE/AVE MARIA – WITH

CAN CAN – WITHOUT BOOK UNDER ARM

SKYFALL – WITH

A MILLION DREAMS – WITH

PINBALL WIZARD – WITHOUT BOOK UNDER ARM

YOU RAISE ME UP – WITHOUT

WHY WE SING – WITH

SWEET CAROLINE – WITHOUT

Rehearsal tonight at KCC Upper Northampton Road Hedge End SO30 4BZ 7.15 pm

Hi All
Most importantly remember we are at KCC tonight and if you can get there for 7.15 pm so that we can sort out seating.  I do apologies if we have to mix people up a bit we can only work with what we have got on the stage.  We will not have the extra podium tonight but we will have it Saturday.  We will do our best.
Just a reminder what Chris said about this evening at KCC
On another note for Thursdays rehearsal at KCC we are rehearsing in the ‘Cedar Hall’ where our concert will be on Saturday. Make sure you come in through the left hand main doors into the older building and through the cafe into the hall, rather than the main doors on the right that lead into our auditorium. There’s a big ceremony inaugurating the new Eastleigh mayor in there at the same time as our rehearsal … you’ll soon realise you are in the wrong place!
Attached  is a running order for the programme with notes saying who is compering there is quite a lot of talking with images as it is a significant Concert we are talking about the history of the choir over the last 50 + 2 years.
Because of this  there will be places to sit and stand, Chris Allison will be telling us when to sit and stand.
We are very mindful of time as we are having the reception afterwards so we need to be ready to go on and sing starting on time and also only have 20 min break all of this is more important in the afternoon as we have the reception in between the concerts.
Can we try and keep a bit of a surprise on the gold tops if you need to go anywhere either change or cover up with something.
Men I will be giving the gold bow ties out this evening can you put them on when you get into the changing rooms.  Just a note on the bow ties.  When you take them off can you do the Velcro up as it does ruin the ties if it attaches itself to the tie.
Uniform
Ladies.
Plain Black suit type trousers with black closed in shoes, preferably not too high as you may obscure someone’s vision, and black tights, popsocks.  Gold tops.  It is thought that no necklace is necessary but you can wear gold/black earrings. And perhaps we will have a vote on bracelets.  We probably wont need them but black jackets, cardigans.
Men
Please bring your dinner suits but again probably wont need the jacket, but remember it is black shirts.  Gold Bow ties. Black shoes and socks.
As we know we are not going to use the folders for definitely.
Gold
You Raise Me Up
Sweet Caroline
The ones that we are using files for are
Les Mis Medley – )although you should know Bring Him Home and Do You Hear)
Joseph
Skyfall
One Moment In Time
Why We Sing
The rest of them it would be nice if those who have been in the choir a while could  do without them.  Give it a try tonight you may surprise yourself.  There will be clear indication by the compère what song  will be coming next.
We will practise tonight how we are going to sit, stand and use the new folders.
There is a white sticker on the back of the folder can you please remove it.
ZOOMERS
We will try our best tonight to get zoom going and for the Concerts.  I would think to log in 30 min before rehearsal or performance.
Please make sure you are muted during the performances.
LILLIAN
There is a card for Lillian also it might be nice to send her some flowers if anyone would like to contribute there will be something to put some money in with the card to be signed.
There will be drinks available to purchase between the performances when we have our fish and chips.  Hopefully everyone has ordered their fish and chips by now.  I am trying to arrange so that we can pre order a drink in the interval, I will hopefully know something tonight.
RAFFLE PRIZES
Thank you everyone who has donated Raffle Prizes so far.  If you still have something to donate then please bring tonight, it  just confuses things if they are brought on the day.
TICKETS
Eric will have the tickets and his blipper to pay by card if people would like to purchase tickets tonight.

This weeks Rehearsal at KCC

Hi All
Chris has sent through this message regarding the rehearsal at KCC this Thursday –
For Thursdays rehearsal at KCC we are rehearsing in the ‘Cedar Hall’ where our concert will be on Saturday.
Thanks Chris 😊
By the way people do not think this is the only email you will get. I have many more things to mention 😆
