RVCP Carol Concert

Good morning to you all,

As promised, here is a copy of the programme and the words to the carols that we will be singing at RVCP on Saturday.
Can I remind you to write your vehicles registration number down on the list tonight ready for Saturday, and that you should arrive there from 6.00pm so that we can sort out the seating arrangements and have a warm up, as the doors open at 6.30pm.
See you all tonight.
Regards
Eric

Concert Parties

Good evening,

I suddenly realised that I had missed out Still, Still, Still from the programme that we are going to be singing for the three Concert Parties we have coming up, so can you add it to the list and put it between Rudolph and O Come All Ye Faithful.
Also, I need to remind you that we are wearing “Victorian” costumes for the concert tomorrow at KCC.
So I’ll see some of you tomorrow and the rest on Thursday.
Bye for now.
Eric

Christmas Concerts

Hello there,

Well, that was certainly a good day yesterday.  From the comments that were heard from the audience, they really enjoyed the singing and the songs that we sang.  There were several in the audience that had not come before, and their reaction was that they didn’t realise that a choir could sound so good live, and they especially like the harmonies that we produced.

A big thank you for all those that helped set the venue up, transported the equipment back and forth from the lock-up, looked after the front of house and behind the scenes in the kitchen, helped to clear up after which meant that we were finished by 10.00pm, and finally to you, our members for making the day worthwhile.

Now, looking forward, we have three concerts coming up, as follows:-

Tuesday, 13th, singing for the Halo club at KCC (where we held our summer concert), Hedge End.  They would like us to start at 1.30pm, so we need to meet at 1.00 to 1.15 so we can get set up and seated ready to begin.

Friday, 16th at the Hamble Social Club, Beaulieu Road, Hamble (where we have been in the past), for the RAF Association.  We have been asked to start at 1.15, so we need to be there for 12.45 to 1.00pm to set up etc.

The programme for both of these concerts will be as follows:-

Sing We Now of Christmas
Little Drummer boy
Once in Royal David’s City
Carol of the Bells
Follow the Star (if we have enough Tenors)
Away in a Manger
Good Tidings of Comfort and Joy
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
O Come All Ye Faithful
Do you Hear What I Hear
Jingle Bell Rock
Hark! the Herald Angel Sing
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
We are then singing on Saturday, 17th, at the Royal Victoria Country Park for their Carol Service. The Carol Service will be starting at 7.00pm, so we need to be there for 6.00 to 6.15 so that we can sort out the chairs and have a sound check before the doors are opened at 6.30pm.  We will be singing the following songs:-
Sing We Now of Christmas
Good Tidings of Comfort and Joy/Carol of the Bells
Do you Hear What I Hear
Grown Up Christmas List
White Winter Hymnal
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
We will also be singing the following carols:-
Once in Royal David’s City
O Little Town of Bethlehem
Away in a Manger
Good King Wenceslas
In the Bleak Mid Winter
Hark! the Herald Angel Sing
Silent Night
O Come All Ye Faithful.
Once we have received their programme, I will let you know the running order.
They require us to give them our registration numbers for our cars, so we will have a list out on Thursday’s rehearsal so that you can write your numbers down.
This coming Thursday, we will be rehearsing the songs and carols that we will be sing at RVCP on Saturday, and we will finish with some light refreshments, as this will be our last rehearsal before Christmas.
We then will be singing at the Fareham Towns Woman’s Guild on Wednesday, 21st December, but I will let you have more details about this nearer the time. We will be doing the same programme as we will have done for the RAF Association.
Well, that’s all for now, so look after yourselves in this cold weather we are having, and I will see you at one of the vents that we have coming up over the next week.
Bye for now.

Tomorrow’s Concert

Good morning,

As promised, here are the details for tomorrow’s concert at the Hedge End Methodist Church.
The concert is due to start at 7.30pm and will take place in the main church.  We will be sat on the dais at the front of the church and we will be in three rows.  Due to the numbers of us that are coming, I will have to slightly re-arrange the seating plan, but there will be your name on the chair when you get there.
You will need to get there by 7.00pm, or earlier if you want to park at the church.
I have enclosed a copy of the programme so you will know what songs we are singing and their order.  For the carols, we will be singing verses 1, 2 , 3 & 6 for Once In Royal David’s City, all three verses of Away in a Manger, verses 1, 2 & 6 for O come All Ye Faithful, and all three verses of Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.
The ladies will wear their Gold tops and the men will wear Black Shirts and their Gold Bowties.
As you will see from the programme, there is an interval where refreshments will be served.
Look forward to seeing you tomorrow night, and enjoy yourselves.  From Chris’s comments last night, we do sound good, just remember to smile.
Regards
Eric

We will have Maureen’s Steve with us to try out the snare part for Little Drummer Boy. He might come early to set up his electric drum kit. We are also doing voice tests in the break. The plan is also to run through the White Winter Hymnal at 9:30pm, finishing no later than 9:50pm. Next week, I will be hearing solos and may need to listen to them starting at 9:30pm.

Looking forward to it!
Lillian
We need some raffle prizes for our own concerts on the 10th, so if you have anything you can give, please bring it along in the next couple of weeks.
Also, if you have signed up for the various concerts that we are doing, or if you haven’t been to rehearsals lately, can you let either Eunice or me know if you are available, especially for the concert on the 26th at the Hedge End Methodist Church, and for our own concerts, as we need to sort the seating plan out for these.
We are also looking for someone to act as compare for both the 26th and the 10th, and if you are happy to take on a small part of this, please let me know.  We are quite happy to have two or three people do it so it spreads the load.
I know some of you have been asking about the recordings of the rehearsals that we used to put onto the website, but Emmie is having problems downloading the files while she is on board her ship at the moment, and we are trying to find another way to do it.
Well, that’s all for now, so I will see you tonight.
Regards
Eric

Thank you all for your hard work!
Kindest regards,
Lillian

Christmas Concert

Good morning to you all,

I knew that there was something that I had forgotten to tell you yesterday, it was about our Christmas Concerts on the 10th December.
As you are already aware, the times of the concerts will be 2.30pm and 7.00pm, but what we had not told you is that we have received a sponsor for the event this year.  The person concerned wanted to give something back to the community and approached us to see if we would put on our concert for free and they would pay our overheads.  We explained that we relied on the profits from our concerts to pay for new music and costumes, and it was agreed that we would make a small charge for adults and let children under 16 in for free.
A Family Ticket costs £5.00 and includes for 2 Adults and 2 Children, and they have been on sale for the past two weeks, and the Adult Ticket will cost £2.50, and they go on general sale on the 1st November, but the Family Ticket will have priority over the Adult Tickets as we want to encourage as many families as possible to come and see us.  Children will not be allowed in without an adult in attendance.
Father Christmas will be in attendance for the afternoon show and there will be presents for all the children who attend this performance.  There will also be refreshments during the interval.
I have included a copy of the poster which you can share far and wide.
If you have any queries, you can speak to either Sharon or Sarah tonight as I will not be there as my drama group is putting on a play/musical this week at Woolston Methodist Church.
See you all next week.
Regards
Eric
