Good morning to you all,

I knew that there was something that I had forgotten to tell you yesterday, it was about our Christmas Concerts on the 10th December.
As you are already aware, the times of the concerts will be 2.30pm and 7.00pm, but what we had not told you is that we have received a sponsor for the event this year.  The person concerned wanted to give something back to the community and approached us to see if we would put on our concert for free and they would pay our overheads.  We explained that we relied on the profits from our concerts to pay for new music and costumes, and it was agreed that we would make a small charge for adults and let children under 16 in for free.
A Family Ticket costs £5.00 and includes for 2 Adults and 2 Children, and they have been on sale for the past two weeks, and the Adult Ticket will cost £2.50, and they go on general sale on the 1st November, but the Family Ticket will have priority over the Adult Tickets as we want to encourage as many families as possible to come and see us.  Children will not be allowed in without an adult in attendance.
Father Christmas will be in attendance for the afternoon show and there will be presents for all the children who attend this performance.  There will also be refreshments during the interval.
I have included a copy of the poster which you can share far and wide.
If you have any queries, you can speak to either Sharon or Sarah tonight as I will not be there as my drama group is putting on a play/musical this week at Woolston Methodist Church.

The idea is to stay later for the small group to rehearsal until about 9:50pm.

We are also looking for solos and duets for the concert, so if you would like to take a slot, please let either Sarah or myself know.
It was decided at the recent Committee Meeting that the ladies will wear the Gold Tops for all the concerts that we are doing around Christmas, with black trousers and possibly the black jackets if it is cold.  The men will wear black shirts and trousers, with the Gold bowties.
With all the concerts that we have coming up over the Christmas period, we will be putting sheets out so that you can sign-up for whichever concerts you are available for, and they will be put out this week so that we can start to get an idea of how many we will have for each. The concerts are as follows:-
26th November – Hedge End Methodist Church – 7.30pm
1st December – Hedge End Macular Society, Hedge End URC – 2.30pm
10th December – Our Christmas Concert – 2.30pm and 7.00pm
13th December – Halo Club, KCC Hedge End – 1.30pm
16th December – RAF Association, RAF Hamble – 2.00pm
17th December – RVCP Carol Service – 7.00pm
21st December – Fareham Towns Womens Guild – 2.15pm
21st December – Boorley Green Carol Singing – 6.00pm
We will also be looking for raffle prizes for our own concerts on the 10th December.

We had a very successful Beetle Drive/Quiz evening, where Ellie and Emmy came out top of the class, and poor old Maureen came last, and overall it was enjoyed by all those who came, and we look forward to the next Social Evening, with something different again.

I have already told you what we will be singing tonight, so I will not repeat myself with that information again.

We are getting request for Christmas Concerts from some of our regular groups, and we have been contacted by the RAF Association to go and sing at the Christmas gathering on Friday, 16th December, in the afternoon. They used to hold meeting at the Hamble Social club, but this year they are holding it at the RAF Yacht Club in Hamble. Before we commit to this event, I would like to see a show of hands this evening of those who would be able to attend, to make sure we have enough singers to make a decent noise, so can you give it some thought ready for tonight.

Also, I need to remind you that the Local Vocals are singing at Snowdrop Place, Woodhouse Lane, Hedge End, on the afternoon of the 19th October at 2.00pm, and we will be singing for about three quarters of an hour. You will need to show that you have a negative LFT before you can go in to the premises, especially as it seems that Covid is on the rise again.

Hi All
On behalf of Chris and myself we would like to Thank You for your very apt card with kind words and the voucher for the Mayflower Theatre.
Apologies for my reaction on Thursday but it was a complete surprise as I was not expecting anything.  I was very happy with the lovely speech from Tom and the Card and Flowers at the Summer Spectacular.
It was very kind of you all and a perfect choice of gift.  We love going to the Theatre but do not go enough so this will give us a perfect excuse for a lovely night out.
As I said in my last Chairman Report I have enjoyed my time on the Committee and it will be hard for me to adapt to not being totally involved, but I will still enjoy singing with the New Music Makers with so many friends that I have made over the many years. Chris is looking forward to a bit more freedom and not being tied to the NMM calendar so much.

Good evening, and sorry for the lateness of this email, but I am suffering from the effects of a Covid Booster Jab I had on Tuesday lunchtime.
We are hoping to have sectionals this week. We will start off together as usual for the warmups, and then Chris will take the men, I will take the women with Hilary on piano.

We still need prizes for the Beetle Drive/Quiz evening on Saturday, so if you have any, can you bring them tomorrow night.

Also, we have had a request for the Local Vocals for Wednesday, 19th October, at 2pm, at the Snowdrop Place, Woodhouse Lane, Hedge End, singing for 3/4hr. However, they require us to do a negative test before we arrive to prove that we are negative, and I know that some of you may not have any lateral Flow Tests and you will have to purchase them from your local Pharmacy.  I will be mentioning this tomorrow night to see if we have enough to make it worth going.

Good news!  The rest of the new music for this season has now arrived.  It will be in your music packs available at rehearsal from tomorrow night.  So you’ll now have:

  • Follow The Star (only if I held it on your behalf in store – otherwise please print at home as previously advised)
  • Grown Up Christmas List (arr. Mac Huff) (new for 2022)

White Winter Hymnal (arr. Alan Billingsly) is for a small group (up to 12).  I’ll issue it when it’s been decided who will be singing in the group.
The remaining carols/songs, except one, will be from ‘100 Carols for Choirs’.  I’ve already given you details about the book.  The exception, as previously advised, is that we’re singing an alternative version of ‘Away In A Manger’.  I’ve attached a PDF of that for you to print at home.
