Happy Jubilee Week-End and Reminder about URC

Hi All
Hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday 🇬🇧 Week End and I am sure all of you remember but there is no choir tonight.
And a while ago I sent out a “Dates for you Diary” List and would like to draw to your attention about the afternoon Concert at URC Bitterne on Thursday 23rd June at 2.00pm singing for about an hour. It is for the URC Senior Citizens Club. It will be songs from our current programme and if anyone would like to do solo’s duets that would be lovely.
You can email me to let me know by email if you are available or let Maureen know at choir next Thursday. We have been singing there for many years and it will be lovely to go back again.
Have a Great Week End
Lin

To Let You Know

Hi All
Some of you may have heard that I am giving up the chairmanship this AGM. I have been saying it for several years and I was going to give up in 2020 after the Golden Concert. I stayed on for the extra two years but now that the Golden Concert has happened it seems the right time for me to hand over to someone else. I am still going to carry on singing and will still be in the choir.
Chris my husband will also obviously be giving up the things that he does which means that we need someone to take over the webpage. He would be willing to give whoever takes it over detailed instructions on how it works, and be on hand if there were any teething problems.
A nomination form will be going out soon for Committee Members and Officers, so if you would like to join the Committee this is your ‘One Moment In Time’. 😃
Kind Regards
Lin

Dear Lin and Choir,

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers, card, and music spoon delivered today! Baby Lucilla is growing well, sleeping, and eating perfectly. I am so pleased with the reports of how things went and so wished I could have been there. Life is getting busier and more complicated with four children! If anyone has any videos or recordings they could share of the concert, I would love to hear how you all sounded. Many thanks to Chris for taking over and his amazing talents and effort put into the Golden Concert! We are blessed to have such a great assistant MD and accompanist. Well done to all who made it happen! Can’t wait to be back 🙂

All the best,
Lillian

Dear Linda and New Music Makers

On behalf of Maureen and myself may I say thank you very much for the privilege of being part of the New Music Makers Golden Anniversary celebrations. Reminiscing and nostalgia are words that described the feelings a few of us had yesterday. The programme was an inclusive celebration with choir members sharing their stories of the past and present in amongst old and new songs (and then there was Tom!).  As Chris Allison remarked, music and singing together affects the way we feel about ourselves, especially with the crises that we are living through today. I always told my choirs that you must learn the music with your heads and sing it from your heart and the listener will respond and give back to you and so the full circle of ‘performance’ is complete.

Please convey my congratulation to the choir and to the superb musicians who made the evening so enjoyable (not forgetting your husband for his important contribution).

Keep singing, and I raise my glass to the next 50 years.

Best wishes

Stuart

Fwd: A Message from Chris

Hi All

Sorry a bit delayed this is a message from Chris.
Hi

What a great day yesterday! Thank you to everyone for all your hard work in putting this concert together. It was the best I’ve heard us sing so many of those songs and the whole day was a brilliant celebration of who the New Music Makers are and everything we’ve done so far! Hope you have a restful day today and look forward to seeing you Thursday to start work on our Summer concert 🙂

Hi All

I did send the list out of the possible  songs we will be singing at the Summer Spectacular but you have probably forgotten or lost that email!  So can you bring all of these pieces with you every week.  Chris will be concentrating on the ones that we have reintroduced this week.   I realise that Ellie and Emmy will not have them, but don’t fear you will get them at some stage.

Don’t forget to let Chris know if you would like to do a solo, duet, group song, monologue (after the inspiration from Tom).

I do know that a lot of you are planning holidays in June could you let Eunice know (she does the register each week). I personally am away for a number of weeks so will see you when I get back.

Another reminder there will not be any choir next Thursday 2nd June as it is a Bank Holiday – something to do with the Queen apparently.

Dear Lin

Can you please forward this message to our choir members.

Dear choir

Jenny and I would like to say thank you for your totally unexpected card and kind get well wishes that we received yesterday, together with a taster of the lovely cake and a plant, kindly delivered by courtesy of Maureen.  We watched the afternoon performance on Zoom along with Louise, Pat and Elaine and enjoyed it immensely, despite feeling disappointed that I couldn’t be there singing with you all.    You were brilliant and put on a first rate performance, confirmed by our friends who attended the evening concert and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We are both working our way through ‘long covid’ which has affected our breathing, and in my case my voice, a situation not helped by having asthma too.   Nevertheless I’m looking forward to being back with the choir as soon as possible and hopefully sing at our July concert.

Looking forward to seeing you all again

Best wishes

Percy

Gold Concerts

Hi All
Just a quick note to you all to say congratulations, we did it! So many nice comments from people in the audience. Somehow it all came together after so many two years of setbacks but everyone was amazing and wow I loved those gold tops only got a quick glimpse of us all together on the stage we may have to supply sunglasses.
Thanks to Chris he went over and beyond yesterday, staying all day and helping with the setting up and there till the end. Thanks for keeping us motivated through everything I hope you agree that it paid off. Thanks to Ed and Sophie, you were great shame the keyboard played up in “Do You Hear the People Sing” 😆.
Thanks to The Front of House Team, Martyn, Cliff and Roger, I didn’t hear of any problems so you must have sorted them all.
Thank you also to Isaac for all that he did technically and for compiling all the photos, videos etc. for the display and also to his Mum, Sarah, for all that she did before, during and after the show.
Thanks to the committee for their contributions, money, display board, fish and chips, clearing up and everything else they do.
I would like to thank my Chris for everything you did especially for popping out and getting the batteries for the mics; make a note everyone that batteries do go out of date!
Special thanks to Eric, he worked like a Trojan from Friday when we picked up the equipment, organising the rostra and setting up and then taking it down. And running the box office, amongst other things.
I hope I have got everyone, apologies if I missed anyone ☹️
So folk we did it. We have at last been able to sing together. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. And wasn’t it lovely seeing so many old friends in the audience.
Lin
