REHEARSAL AND CONCERT CANCELLED

Subject: REHEARSAL AND CONCERT CANCELLED 😢

Hi All

We have had a difficult decision to make.  The Committee did not want to cancel the Christmas Concert but we had to weigh up what is best for everyone with the Omicron variant moving at an “absolutely phenomenal pace” as was described in the news brief today. And as Professor Chris Whitty urged people to “prioritise social interactions that really matter to them and de-prioritise others” “Don’t mix with people you don’t have to so that you can be safe for the things that really matter to you”.  This makes perfect sense and it would be terrible if people could not have the Christmas they wanted and we were the cause of it.

It has also been decided to not have a rehearsal tomorrow evening as the same points apply to that as well.

People who have bought tickets will get their money back.

Sharon will sort out the fish and chips and will put the money back in your accounts if you paid by bank transfer, if you paid by cheque they have not been paid in yet and Sharon will return them to you, she will also sort out who has paid by cash.

If you gave raffle prizes we will bring them to the first rehearsal on the Thursday 13th January 2022 and you can collect them back.

I will make an announcement on Facebook if you see it perhaps you can share.

Many thanks to Chris for all of his hard work and making it fun learning Christmas Songs in September and making us ready for a Concert and to Victoria for coming along and playing for us.

Thanks to the Committee for all of their hard work and the volunteers that would have been there for the Concert maybe we can have Christmas in March as someone suggested.

So Everyone Take Care and Have a  “Wonderful Christmas Time”.

Christmas Concert 2021

Hi All

Just a few things that have evolved from our Committee Meeting that we have had this evening regarding the Concert on Saturday.

Firstly we will be making a definitive decision on Thursday night whether we go ahead with the concert or whether we have to cancel due to the  Covid situation.  So at the moment the intention is to go ahead so there are a few things that we would like to pass on.

We will do our best to ZOOM the Concert and we will send you the link if you are unable to attend.

Of course we will be wearing masks but we can take them off when we are performing.  We will be keeping watch with the monitor and we will be airing the Hall when necessary.  So if you can wear your masks until we are in position and take them off when we sing but replace when we sit back down.  We will wear them when we sing the carols.

Ladies we will be wearing our red tops with silver bling,  Black trousers, black shoes or ankle boots, if you wear black shoes please wear black socks/tights.  Men black shirts, new red bow ties, dinner suits.

Music in a black folder with red tinsel, please photocopy the carols so that you only have one set of music.

When you are seated please sit with your folder closed with the tinsel facing outwards.

Please do not take water onto the performance area, if it is necessary then please take it in a discreet receptacle and only use if necessary.  And if someone  is performing a solo can you please look like you are enjoying it.  All eyes are on you.

I did joke about having reindeer antler headbands/hats to start the second half and it has been decided that we will go ahead with this and we will  also use them for the ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’.  I do have several but probably not enough, I will also be getting some that you could purchase from me for £2.00 each.  I will bring them all on Thursday and see if we have enough.  We are also going to give them as Santa Presents so that the children can wear them when we are singing Rudolph which is the start of the Second Half.

Please bring your own drink for the intervals there will be mince pies available.  We are not making a hot drink for the audience during the interval but we will have the urn on for a drink between the performances but please can you bring your own cups/mugs.  If you are staying for fish and chips please bring your own cutlery and condiments if you want them.

If anyone would like to volunteer to sell and fold raffle tickets that would be very useful.

DON’T FORGET TO BRING RAFFLE PRIZES THURSDAY NIGHT.

Thanks All

RVCP a few pics

Hi All
A few pics from last night if you don’t do Whatsapp. I particularly like the one that I made Chris pose for 😂 especially as he did such a great job not only playing and conducting us but also playing all but one of the carols and keeping the organisers organised!
Thanks to all of you that attended I think we put them all in the Christmas Spirit with our choice of songs and I had some lovely compliments after the service. It was quite challenging singing the carols in masks so many thanks for that and I really think that it helped the audience to do the same.
How lovely to have some of our new members there last night Elaine, Vanessa and Beckie, I promise I wont sit you under the tree next year Beckie, although it was quite funny when you knocked off some of the baubles, good job Jane and I had masks on and they couldn’t see us giggling especially as it was during one of the serious readings. 🎄
I hope if you bought raffle tickets that you had one of the many many many many many ticket numbers that were drawn out.
Apparently Chris was asked by one of the organisers if we would go back next year, always a compliment. So thanks again everyone it was a great evening.

Scanned Carol Songbook – RVCP.pdf

Hi All
Attached are a copy of the words to the carols that we are singing at the RVCP just in case you want print them off. You SHOULD get a copy of the words given to you.
I have been in touch with the chapel and as we know everyone is required to wear masks. Just in case you were unaware the visors are not accepted unless another mask is worn underneath. We will take the masks off to do our performance but will keep them on when we are sat and sing the communal carols, this is to encourage the audience to wear it when they are singing. The vicar will make the announcement for them to keep their masks on whilst they are singing.
So just to reiterate Ladies are wearing their blue sparkly tops with black trousers comfortable shoes/ankle boots. Make sure you wear a warm black jacket/cardigan.
Men to wear white shirt and blue sparkly bow ties and your dinner jackets, please feel free to wear a v neck jumper underneath if you feel you may be chilly.
Might be nice to wear a christmas hat for our last little two songs, and then we can keep them on and keep warm. I may be totally wrong and it may be really warm but better to be on the safe side.
See you tomorrow.

Fwd: Singing at Care Home 10th December – Singing for Lights

Hi all

A few members have expressed an interest in singing at Florence Court Care Home, 243 Segensworth Road, Fareham,  PO15 5EW, on Friday 10th December at 4.30 pm.  Eric has kindly agreed to operate the boombox, and we will be using the carols on the Christmas CD, words to which are attached.  The home is situated on the Segensworth roundabout off Junction 9 of the M27.

The weather forecast is not great, but we will be under cover, albeit outside.  Suggest the ladies could wear the grey ponchos and tartan scarves with black trousers, men preferably a black coat.  But if you don’t have them, then wear what you like!

Those I believe are attending are please let me know if I have missed anyone:

Eric

Beryl

Sharon

Lin

Maggie

Pete

Keith

Are there any more sopranos who can help out please?  If so please let me know.

It will be nice to be able to provide a bit of Christmas cheer to the Home after such an awful year for them.  I believe there will be festive food available in their bistro.

Thank you.

Sharon
