Hi All

Just to let you know I will not be at choir tonight or next week as  Chris has had a positive PCR test  although he has no symptoms.  Because of this I have decided to isolate with him to be on the safe side, my test came back negative.  I do not have to isolate but talking to other committee members we think this is the right thing to do so we have added it to our health check, there are a few changes so please could you have a look at it please.

Thanks to those that have let me know if your circumstances are different  for attending rehearsal tonight.  And good luck to Pete Blake who is not attending but may be on zoom who has his hip op very soon also to Ann who is not attending as she has an op to look forward to as well.

If you can let me know ASAP so that I can get the seating plan done as Eric has kindly offered to pick it up this afternoon when he picks up the key.

The infection rates for the last seven days are on a downward trend.

Southampton – 1147 -20%

Fwd: Report on “Get Together and Sing Together”

Subject: Report on “Get Together and Sing Together”

Hi All

Apologies for taking so long to let you all know how the social event on the 2nd October went.

Thanks to the choir members who attended and their guests and we also had some of our past members, which was lovely.  Numbers were down because of the short notice.  Also many on the day had to pull out because of various illness and not wanting to spread it on,  which was very much appreciated.

That said we ended up with three basses, three tenors, three 1st sops, three 2nd sops, three 1st Alto and three 2nd Altos – how clever was that!  All led by Chris Allison our Assistant Musical Director playing and conducting us.

It was great that we had our new choir members joining in, Peter Foster (Bass) and Vanessa Wilkinson (Alto) and in the second half we had Elaine Walter our new Soprano who had only joined the choir on the Thursday join us on the stage.  It really was a “Get Together and Sing Together”.

It didn’t all go brilliantly, the basses had to stand on the floor because poor old Pete Blake is waiting for his hip op and couldn’t make the steps, and Chris’s music fell off the stand. Eric retrieved it and put it back upside down! I am sure that there were more than a few wrong notes but it was lovely to sing to an audience after so long and feel that life was a bit more normal.

Thanks to everyone who brought raffle prizes and bought tickets and donated, we managed to cover our expenses which was brilliant.  Thanks to everyone who muscled in setting up and clearing away, I hope everyone enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did.  Thanks to Chris Allison for trying to keep our enthusiasm under control to produce some entertainment for our audience.

My Chris has cobbled together a YouTube video  https://youtu.be/jpcz4vK8T_A (not for public use) of the event from various different recordings, one of them from Martin Small’s Camera that Chris set up at the back of the hall for you to enjoy.  There are also some stills from various people. We will put some of them on the members website for you to see.image1.jpeg
Sorry Eric you missed the photo!

We are taking out ‘The Holly and The Ivy’, and the ladies only piece ‘What is that Lovely Fragrance’.

Covid Alert

Hi All

Just informing you that Jane has had a positive PCR test for covid.  As yet she has not been contacted by track and trace.
We should all follow the government guidelines as she has informed us – go to www.gov.uk  for details.
If you get a positive LFT test you should get a PCR test as well.
This is the section on
‘Exemptions from self-isolation for contacts’

You are not required to self-isolate if you are notified you have had close contact with someone with COVID-19 and any of the following apply:

  • you are fully vaccinated
  • you are below the age of 18 years and 6 months
  • you have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • you are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

You are fully vaccinated 14 days after your final dose of an MHRA-approved vaccine that was administered in the United Kingdom. This is to allow for an antibody response to develop. If you were fully vaccinated at the time you had close contact with a positive case, you will not be required to self-isolate.

Jane hopes that you are all ok and she has not passed it on.

Covid Alert

Hi All
For those that were at choir on Thursday I am just writing to let you know that Jane Courtenay had a LFT test after her husband had a positive test. Hers was also positive and they are hoping to get PCR test this morning.
Jane’s test on Thursday was negative.
If you were in close contact with Jane you should probably have a LFT test and if positive should get a PCR test and isolate until the results are back.
Hope you are all good and Jane and Chris keep ok.
