Hi All
Lots of things to say today (make sure you read to the end) but firstly and importantly we have a birthday, it is Percy’s on the 2nd of October. I have hundreds of photographs of Percy because he has been in the choir for hundreds of years and he doesn’t seem to have aged. I was very privileged to sing at his and Jenny’s wedding shortly after I joined the choir. He will have to tell you how long ago.
This Photograph was taken at the village Hall when we did an Old Time Music Hall for the Mayor of Eastleigh to Raise funds for charity. It was a great night.

Hope you and Jenny have a lovely day.We had our first Committee Meeting (on Zoom) with the new committee since the AGM. It has been put off a few times but finally managed it this time. The main topic was about returning to live rehearsals. We had a huge debate over the rules and regulations. They were anything but clear and although there is a possibility about going back, multi-use community halls had very vague guidelines. We made a decision, not taken lightly that we would not go back to live rehearsals for the time being as the rate of infection is going up and we did not feel at the present time it would be right or safe to do so.Following on from the community hall guidelines I have just read this today
- Indoor performances to socially distanced audiences can take place presently if in line with the performing arts guidance. However, as of 28 September community facilities must not allow singing in groups of more than 6, dancing, or music over certain volumes.
That would have saved us a lot of time at our meeting, but I believe we have made the right decision. And I hope that you all agree.
Meanwhile we will try and make the run up until Christmas as exciting as we can and we may have some extra social zoom meetings organised. So watch this space for your thrilling Christmas Concert Programme Coming Up!!!! 🎄 🎅🏼 🎄
We will be working from the 100 Carols from Choirs that all choir members should have purchased

You can get it on ebay or amazon.
This week Lillian is going to teach us some singing techniques we will use Cantate Domino for the purpose. The new Peter is going to have his voice test so Lillian, Chris and myself will disappear for a while to do that and perhaps put you all in break out rooms.
I think that I have mentioned before that we may be videoing our Zoom rehearsals so that we can send them out to people who are unable to join us. We did have a trial run last week but it hit some technical errors so we will be having another go this week.
If you are not happy to be recorded then when you join don’t hit the ‘join by video button’ you will still be able to participate in the meeting but we will not be able to see you.
If anyone would like help in participating in the rehearsals and is struggling with zoom, Eric will gladly talk you though it and set you up with a trial meeting. He has done this for several members.

Following the departure from the choir of Sandie and David, it had been the committee’s intention to organise some sort of presentation to them at the summer concert as a thank you for their input to the choir over the years they have served. As this didn’t happen, we are thinking of making a collection from those choir members who would like to contribute, to buy some flowers and wine or something along those lines. There will also be an online card being sent out so members can add their personal messages. If you would like to make a donation, could you please make it online direct to the New Music Makers’ bank account, with a reference relating to the donation.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Mary Gunn was in hospital, unfortunately the operation did not go as planned and Mary was extremely ill in intensive care. She was in an induced coma which they are now gradually bringing her out of and she is doing a lot better than people expected, which is wonderful news. Lets hope she keeps on improving and I am sure we all wish her the best and send our love.
🎶 🎧 🎵 Have you submitted your video of ‘You Raise Me Up’ yet? No nor me!! I have asked Lillian very nicely if she would give us an extension over the weekend and submit it by Sunday night and she agreed 👏 👏. No excuses now get singing and recording, it was chosen as our favourite song, lets do it justice.
