Fwd: Choir Research – University of York

For Anyone who may be interested to do the survey??

Dear whom it may concern,

I am emailing to let you know about a research opportunity for the members and facilitators in your choir.

The University of York’s AudioLab is carrying out research on how Covid-19 has affected choirs. As part of this research, we want to understand if and how choirs in the UK functioned during the lockdown induced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are launching a 10 minute survey and need responses from as many choir members and leaders as possible to build a picture of the current experiences of choirs and the impact of Covid-19.

We would greatly appreciate if you could distribute the following link of our survey to your membership: https://york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b45IX15CMITEkZv

If you would like to have some supporting text to the link’s distribution feel free to use the following:

“The University of York is researching the impact of COVID-19 on choir singing and singers. They are currently looking for choir members and facilitators to fill out a 10 minute survey about choir participation (pre and post Covid-19): https://york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b45IX15CMITEkZv

If you have any questions about the research please feel free to email ksb526@york.ac.uk

Many Thanks,

Apologies to Michael Fisher I missed letting you know about his birthday on the 21st of July. Michael joined us in February 2018 as a Bass.

I had difficulty finding a picture of Michael, but which one is he??? The only bass looking at the conductor. 😂 Hope you had a nice birthday

And it is my birthday on the 23rd July I couldn’t find any photographs of myself that I liked apart from this one. {CAPTION}

Not a lot you can say really???
And it is Lizzie Kemps birthday on the 26th July. Hopefully this is right, I had it wrong for a few years??? I am not sure how long Liz has been in the choir nearly as long as me I think.

Hi All

The zoom call experiments with Lillian and Chris were a great success. We had a few teething problems sending people to the wrong rooms all of us learning how to mute and unmute.  And I think Eric has mastered how to get cohosts so I am sure it will work for when we go back in September.  I enjoyed going to the breakout room for the tea break (must bring a drink next time)  nice to be able to have a chat with a small group.  Thanks  Chris, Lillian and Eric.

This weeks zoom we have some treats in store for you.  As long as Roy can master it and sort out the backing track he will sing ‘From a Distance’ for us.

And Louise is going to be playing us music clips and we have to work out which Advert they come from.  Here’s a tip ‘Gold’ is ‘Bold’.!!!  Don’t tell Louise I told you.  That sounds like something I might even know some of the answers to.

Social distance, the way that we must go

if we want to sing again…

Keep your distance,

go wash your germ filled hands

and always san-itize. (wear a mask).

Ye..s, persistence, we..e must all obey

for the choir to sur-vive.

We’ll sing songs of hope,

we’ll sing song of joy,

we’ll sing LOVE, to e-ve-ryone.

piano

From a distance, we… shall see the past,

they were great and glorious days.

But the fu-ture,

it will be better still

we’ll have a real, exciting time.

From a distance, wee-ll sing virtual songs

through zoom meetings every we-ek

singing soprano parts

singing the alto parts

we’ll sing me-n’s parts everyone.

Lillian’s watching us,

sheee is gui-ding us,

she’s conducting us

through social media.

we shall use our phones,

send our video’d parts,

to be formed…. into a virtual choir.

We shall be back again
