Beetle Quiz Drive

Hedge End Village Hall 1
7:30 pm

So it’s not “all work and no play” for the New Music Makers.  On Saturday 7th October we had a Beetle Drive/Quiz attended by 40 people made up of choir members, as well as friends and family.

There were manic rounds of dice rolling to build the 14 part beetle and the cheers of relief when a six was thrown for the body, were very noticeable. The children who came joined in with enthusiasm and there were some very artistic/creative drawings of beetles.

The frantic part was interspersed with quiet, gentle rounds of questions which did tax the brains a bit. The fish and chips arrived in the nick of time and overall the evening was very enjoyable.

M&S Retirement Group

Masonic Hall
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

A sunny day in Southampton greeted us as we arrived to put on our concert party for the Marks and Spencer Retirement Fund.  Despite Roy and Pete being ill, the bases were more than competently covered by Eric Gerrey who sang his heart out.  Pat delivered some wonderful solos, kindly singing an extra one to cover for Roy’s absence.  The audience were most appreciative and enjoyed songs such as Can You Feel the Love Tonight?, Bring Him Home, Feed the Birds, Hallelujah, and One, to name but a few.  Chris did an amazing job, not only playing the piano, but conducting and mouthing the words – all at the same time – a real one man band!  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the venue, the wonderful audience, not to mention the tea, cakes, chocolate bars and biscuits.   Who could ask for more?

Cameo Club

Spiritualist Church
10:30 am - 12:30 pm

The Concert Party had a lovely sing out for the Cameo Club in Bitterne.
It was a fun morning despite the horrible weather and we had a lovely audience.
We had a mixed programme with something for everyone to enjoy from Les Miserable to Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and a very interesting arrangement of I Remember It Well.
Shame we didn’t get to take a photo.
