New Music Makers Golden Concert

Celebrating 50 years of the New Music Makers choir, 1970-2020, we hold this special concert two years later than planned, following the global pandemic, and are excited to be singing a selection of our favourites from the past, with some new additions which we hope will become favourites of the future.
We look forward to welcoming you to share in our celebration,

UKRAINE INFORMATUIB 9TH APRIL 2022

Hi All

Below is the poster that has been put on Facebook and on our webpage.  There are no tickets anyone can turn up.  They  are asking people to donate to justgiving as they can then claim gift aid.  If like me you have relatives that do not do online banking perhaps anyone paying tax could donate it for them.  Donations to:    https://www.justgiving.com/TheNewMusicMakers.  There will also be a cash collection on the day.

Also below is the programme. You will see that you will have to get Can You Feel the Love Tonight,  Chattannooga Choo Choo, What A Wonderful World and You’ll Never Walk Alone from your Library.  If you have not been issued with the Library yet we have copies that you can loan.

And Also attached is the pdf for the singalong songs.  Eric will be printing some off if you do not have access to a printer.  You will notice that most of the songs we are singing are being rehearsed this week and those that are attending the Concert we can have a quick run through of the singalongs after the Rehearsal.

As you know we said to wear blue or yellow tops black, blue or yellow trousers if you do not have any coloured tops white will be fine.

Fwd: RBL Centenary Festival Choir

Hi All

As promised the information about the Centenary Festival Choir singing at the Mayflower.
We will be having a rehearsal on Saturday 30th May at 3.30pm for about an hour to go through the songs together to give us a bit of confidence but you need to look at the music and listen to the backing tracks to familiarise yourselves with the pieces before our rehearsal.  There is some splitting to be done into two choirs which we will let you know how to do this very soon.
As I said before I have had problems with the doodle poll so it may not have registered you so I am sending the list again as I do have to submit who is coming so if your name is not there could you tell me please.

MUSIC

– The choir are required for 8 numbers. 7 of these are complete, and can be found in the Google Drive here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16Pmg3pvS4J5WpIeh3es45WXssHUm5Cpm?usp=sharing
– This drive has the music in, as well as a folder with backing tracks to practise to (I’m afraid some are midi exports from Sibelius as there are no exact recordings), and a folder of piano parts for some, if you have a rehearsal pianist.
– The majority of the parts are fairly easy, and we’ve played it safe with a lot by just having a melody part and few harmonies to ease the load on the choirs with rehearsal schedules etc. The two Greatest Showman numbers have TWO parts – this is to cover answering phrases, so in places they are unison, but others different. Please could half of each choir cover each part – then when we come together on the day we have an easy split of “part 1” and “part 2”.
OTHER DETAILS
– I’m sure a lot of members will be keen to know timings and details asap:
– The dress code will be ALL BLACK. This can be a dress, skirt, trousers with a black shirt/blouse etc, but this is the easiest way to keep uniformity. If any of you have big issues with this and have strong feelings about wearing what you normally wear, please let me know.
– The rehearsal on the day is anticipated to be between approximately 2pm and 5pm. I’ll do my best to make sure all of the choir bits are condensed together as much as possible, and will be in touch asap if this will change.
– The performance itself is at 7pm, and will finish approx 21:30 – 21:45.
– There is no parking provided unfortunately, so members are encouraged to lift share and park in one of the local car parks (the multi-storey car park behind is potentially the best/cheapest option).
– Tickets are on sale, and discounted performer’s family and friends tickets at £20 are available with the code : FEST20. Tickets are available here:
INFO/NUMBERS

– Please could you email Claire (copied in) who is organising the event with a photo and logo of your choirs, plus a little write up/bio for the programme/publicity?
– Please could you also confirm exact numbers signed up, and also names, so that we can prepare for the day.
I think that’s it for now – I’ll have the last arrangement over to you this week. Thanks for coming on board with this. It’s going to be an excellent evening and celebration!
Best Wishes,
Greg

Singing for Ukraine at the URC – song by memory next week – ‘You Raise Me Up’.

Hi All
Just to confirm that the date that was best for who can attend is Saturday 9th April 2.00pm arrival Concert at 2.30 for about 1 hour 15 mins there will be refreshment afterwards.
We will be singing some of the songs from our Golden Concert so that we don’t have to rehearse anything else and also will be singing popular songs with audience participation. We are going to sing through the whole programme this Thursday to give Ed the pianist a chance to sit with Chris to go through them so we can make a final decision then.
We thought it would be nice to wear yellow and royal blue if anyone has one of our polo shirts that would be good. But it would be nice to have a few yellow tops dotted around if anyone has anything in their wardrobe. (I found one in a charity shop).
More details will follow.

Annual Dinner

Hi All
Just to confirm to those to those that are attending the meal tomorrow night. It will be 7.00pm for 7.30 meal.
There will not be a seating plan so it might get a little hectic sorting out the meals but I am sure we will all be fed eventually!!
For those that have not been there before we have the room at the back to ourselves so when you come in the front entrance to the pub turn right and it is along the corridor.
Looking forward to catching up with you all.
Lin
