IT’S GETTING NEAR – GOLD

Hi All
Eric will bring tickets on Thursday and a card reader so that you can pay by card or cash for your tickets. If you can order before hand that would be useful email Eric on – ericgerrey@aol.com.
Tell your guests that they will be able to buy raffle tickets and programmes by card or cash.
Also please could you bring raffle prizes (Pete Blake 😊) and everyone else. 😆
Don’t forget if you are in touch with any past members to invite them to buy tickets for the afternoon and join us for the reception in the after the Concert We will need to know how many for catering so let me know.

Letter from Chris.

Hello everyone,
Well done in our rehearsal last night! Everything is certainly sounding more confident and going through the whole program each week is paying off.

Next week I would like to run our rehearsal a little bit differently. I want to start by focusing on a few things that I think we can still improve.  I am sending this out today to ask if you can look at the things on the top of this list before next week, listen to them on OneDrive and practice them so that we make the very best use of our time together.

Here are the main things I want us to be practising and will start with these next week

Gold – rhythms in the verses
Les Mis medley – tempo changes and rhythms, particularly in I Dreamed A Dream and On My Own
Why We Sing – notes and rhythms for altos tenors and basses on the first three pages

We will spend a short time on these things at the start of our rehearsal and then go through the rest of the program in order – especially working on more light and shade in our singing.

I really appreciate everybody’s hard work.  Let’s have one last push over the next to weeks so we can feel really confident in what we’ve done, enjoy performing and show the audience what a great choir the New Music Makers are!

Many thanks
Chris

Tonights Rehearsal and Raffle Prizes

Hi All
Attached is a the programme, with hopefully the last alteration!! And hopefully I have got it right. One Moment In Time has been changed with Fields of Gold. It will look better that the Men don’t stand up and then sit down again after the ladies have sung. So the ladies will stand, sing One Moment In Time and then the men will stand up to sing Fields of Gold. Makes perfect sense.??
KCC have very kindly offered us the Hall on the last Thursday Rehearsal before the Concert. 19th May which will be great, we wont have the staging but we can sing in the positions and we can get a better feel for the Concerts.
I am not sure if I have mentioned but we are going to have a small and short reception after the afternoon Concert for any past members that are in the audience and for the choir members. The idea is to finish the reception by 5.30 to give us time to get ready for the evening performance. So if you know anyone that has been in the choir that would like to buy tickets and attend let them and me know.
Running through the whole programme again tonight see how many you can do without the words, I am sure you will surprise yourselves.
Don’t forget your Raffle Prizes (Pete Blake). I know I said Gold but if it is not gold we will put a gold bow on it!!!! Thanks.

Photographer/Front of House

Hi All
Thanks everyone It was great to have so many back this week it made so much difference to the rehearsal and the sound, please try your hardest to work on the pieces at home and to attend each week.
I keep forgetting to add it to my email or ask. Does anyone know any budding photographer, videographer? It would be great to have as many photographs as possible and to have the whole Concert videoed or whatever they call it nowadays.
We have someone to sell raffle tickets in the afternoon but not in the evening do you know anyone who may volunteer?

MAYFLOWER INFORMATION

 Hi All

There has been a slight change  to the programme in that they have changed ‘This is Me’ and ‘From Now On’ around.

They have also changed the order of the rehearsal which does give us less time in between the rehearsal and Concert.

I have been in touch with Greg and said that some people were going to try and grab something to eat in between and he has come back with a bit of a compromise

“Yes, can definitely leave at 17:05, if not before. What I might try and do is slip You’ll Never Walk Alone in a little earlier – if the choir can run it, and are happy with it, we can run it later on with just Mehreen, the soloist, and the choirs can leave at 16:10ish…! Can’t promise but will aim for that… “

So no promises but we should have a bit more time in between.  I am glad I didn’t have to organise it with all of the different groups joining in.

We are able to stay a the Theatre if we want and watch the rehearsal and  if people want to take a packed tea.

There will be secure dressing rooms for changing into performance clothes, not sure how they will be organising that but have said that we are a mixed voice choir.  We may have to share with another choir?

I asked how we get in:-

You will need to arrive via stage door which is just off Empire Lane, a short walk round from the main entrance.

There is a multi-story car park round the corner from the theatre which the address is:

West Park
West Park Road
Southampton
SO15 1DQ

I did ask about LFT testing

With regards to testing, we would say the same, if someone is displaying symptoms or has tested positive then not to come in. The mayflower haven’t asked us for LFT as it’s not in government guidelines however if its probably not a bad idea.

Just a reminder again about what to wear for the performance – all black please make sure you have closed in back shoes.  I have no idea if it will be chilly on stage but if you bring black jackets/cardigans we can probably gauge by in the afternoon if we think we will need them.

There are water stations at the Mayflower for performers, to reduce plastic they ask that performers take their own water bottles to fill out through the day/evening.

At the moment I can’t think of anything else apart from our rehearsal on Saturday at 3.30pm at the Methodist and it will be in the Church but will probably let you in through the side door??  If you can’t get in go through the front.

Remember we are working from their music  which I have sent you a link for if anyone is having difficulty in printing it let Eric know and he has very kindly offered to print it off.  You need to check which choir you are in 1 or 2

Below is the schedule for Arriving Times for the rehearsal.  What Times and what we are rehearsing and what time we should get to the Mayflower for the Concert.

Attached is the programme I have reduced it to one page so you can print off to put in you BLACK folders.

Tonights Rehearsal

Hi All
As I said in my previous email we are going through everything tonight and concentrating on Gold.
Maureen will be handing out the Gold Tops to the ladies. You may not have known but Marg had a lot of trouble with the order, Hermes losing it twice and in the end we were sent what they had. Marg did a great job sorting them out when they did eventually arrive but since then of course choir members have left and we have some lovely new members. The result is that we have had to juggle the tops to fit best we can we hope! There will be no time to try them on tonight so if you could take them home and try them on. They are supposed to be a loose tunic type top not close fitting. If you are desperately unhappy with the size that you have been issued with please let us know and we can see if we can do anything about it.
We could really do with some more of these so if anyone sees one in a charity shop please buy them we will refund you the money.
I have just put a picture on our local ‘Need A Whisk’ page to see if anyone has one in their wardrobe they do not want, you never know!
I am waiting on a bit more information about the Mayflower Concert, they have made a slight change to the programme and the rehearsal programme which I am trying to confirm.
As soon as I get it I will forward on to you all.

MAYFLOWER Rehearsal Schedule and Running Order

Hi All

Forwarding on the latest email from Greg about singing at the Mayflower
Don’t forget everyone is to wear Black I did ask the question about sparkly and as long as it is black sparkle then that will be ok.
Men can wear dinner jackets if they would like but with a black shirt underneath
And don’t forget music in black folders.

Hi Lin,

Please find attached the rehearsal schedule and running order for next Sunday.

I’ve attached two versions of the running order – a comprehensive one which shows all the detail, and a simplified one which can be given to members (particularly choir members to put inside folders should they need them).

Choirs, you’ll probably want to arrive for 14:15 to allow time to sign in, find your bearings and then get onto the stage at 14:30 ready to start.

I’m aware this schedule does mean that there is some hanging around for some of you, but I’ve tried to keep stuff together and compact where possible. It’ll be a little confusing not rehearsing everything in running order, but I’ve tried to keep it in sections where possible.

Looking forward to meeting you all and putting a great performance together!

Best Wishes,

Greg
