Hope you are all well and by now most of you have had the opportunity for the jab and have not had too many side effects.
We have a Birthday this week it is Richard Close on 22nd April. Richard Joined the choir in May 2017 as a Baritone. I am lead to believe that it is a signifiant birthday this year. I hope you have a great day and you don’t look a day over 50.
Have a Wonderful Day Richard – at least this year you can go out!
Well this time last year was a busy time with lots of news. The first breaking news was the birth of Becci Coppens beautiful daughter Edie on the 14th April 2020. Looking back she was to be named Edith Charlotte ‘Lily” Coppen, the name Lily was under consideration as Matt was unsure if he wanted to saddle the children with two middle names as he had been. He won by a toss of the coin and Ollie only has one, I haven’t heard if Becci won with Edie.
This is the photograph I sent out of Edie when she was born and the other one on how much she has grown. Beccy has sent some more photographs of Edie’s first year which I will send separately for you to see in case it is too many for one email.

What a difference a year makes she is gorgeous- apparently the beers are a present from Grampie, I think Edie may be a bit young for them? Maybe they were for Ollie? 🍻
Of course we also had the birth of Lillians baby, more about that next week.
We also had sad news in that Martin Small had passed away on the 19th April 2020. As most of you knew Martin had been associated with the choir for many years and worked front of house, making scenery, helping with quizzes and keeping archives of the choir and videoing Concerts. He left all of his archives to the choir and my Chris has now finished digitising them and they will soon be available for you to see on the Website and we will have them now as History for the choir thanks to Martin.
I only found out recently that he had also bequeathed £1000 to the choir and have heard from the solicitors that we shall soon be receiving it in our bank account, What a lovely thing for him to do and we will use the money wisely in his memory.
Thank You Martin from the Choir.

COMMITTEE MEETING
We had our Committee Meeting and unfortunately we are no further forward in knowing if we can put on our Concert in October and if we can have an audience or indeed when we can go back to rehearsing. There is nothing in any of the government guidelines and Making Music are none the wiser and are not giving any useful information out. But we have to be hopeful that things will improve and we will rehearse the songs we programme on Zoom and at home in the hope that it will happen and it is something to look forward too. You know the one Always Look On The Bright Side of Life, last sung in 2015 – one definitely to be revised.
I am sad to say that David Jupp has retired from the choir. Although he hadn’t been in the choir for long he did enjoy it and had a lovely Bass voice that I was privileged to hear at his Audition. It is a shame but he has not been well and finds it impossible to sing now. Such a shame we send him all our best I am sure.
The other disappointing news was that Lock’nstore have put there weekly charge up. Something we could have done without at the moment.

****MESSAGE FROM OUR TREASURER****
GIFT AID
Dear All
Now that we have reached the end of the tax year, I am in a position to make a claim to HMRC for the choir’s Gift Aid. If anyone who normally does Gift Aid has found that their circumstances have changed in the last year, whereby perhaps they have not had to pay tax and therefore will not qualify to have their subs “Gift-Aided”, could they please let me know by email.
Kind Regards
Sharon

Please can you email Sharon directly. Thanks Sharon.
On a good note we did have an enquiry before lockdown from a couple who had moved into the area and they were going to come along to a rehearsal, and then of course we all know what happened. I got in touch with them to invite them to our zoom meetings, they were not keen on joining in with that but are still interested and would like me to keep in touch to let the know when things are better and would like to come along to a rehearsal.
THIS WEEKS REHEARSAL
I have already sent out what songs we will be looking at but here they are again. Chris will not be joining us this week he is on holiday in a cottage in Cornwall. I hope you are having a great time if you read this – probably not -😫😎
