Rehearsal 10th June 2021

Hi All
Good News we are going sing for a little longer this week and will be finishing at 8.30pm. It went so quick last time that we thought we would try a little bit longer. Of course weather and light dependent.
Thank you to those that have replied to my email last Thursday asking if you are intending to be at the rehearsal on the 10th. I did actually ask you to let me know if you could let me know if you can make the 17th as well but that was a bit further down the email and I expect you were all bored by then or looking for yourselves in the photographs!
So if you haven’t done already please can you let me know if you are aiming to be at the 10th and/or 17th June arriving 6.30pm for 7.00pm start finishing at 8.30pm outside at Natalies Garden. It would be helpful if you could reply on this email please.
This is what we are singing sent from Lillian:-
Dear All,
I am looking forward to being back together for an in-person rehearsal! Here is what we will be singing:
SING SING SING THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES AFRICA WEST SIDE STORY WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN
Thanks for making the effort to keep singing, keep learning, and getting together.
Lillian

Fwd: SIGN TO SING

Hi All – forwarding on from Eric
Some information and a petition about not letting amateur choirs sing in bigger groups than six if you want to sign.

Subject: SIGN TO SING

Hi

We are Project Get Singing – a campaign to bring music and singing back into communities: for health, well-being and for the pure joy!

Short and sweet: Hopefully you’re all aware of the ridiculous guidance from DCMS, which changed a day after 17th May restrictions were due to be lifted.
WE NEED YOUR HELP to get EVERYONE to sign the petition: all your choir members and friends.
Share this content:
(Here’s some simple copy for you to just copy and paste and share with your people – it fits in a Tweet!)

“We’re taking our direct action step to campaign to get singing groups the same treatment as all other activities so we can get back to our work of supporting our communities”.

Please sign our petition:
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/586559

And then please share and paint the town with this!

We will do what we can to deliver this to the powers that be asap.

WEEK + 12 NO REHEARSAL NO ZOOM

Hi All

Hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday week and enjoying the sunshine.  Not a lot to say this week as we are not rehearsing but hopefully weather permitting we will be able to meet at Natalies next week.  Please could you let me know if you would like to attend all of the same rules apply from the last time but we do need to know if you would like to be included this time.

Just one birthday this week it is Jen Marsh in the foreground doing a bit of barn dancing in August 2014 so she has been in the choir a long time. Her birthday is on June 9th Hope you have a lovely day and Steve and your family spool you.

This photograph is to remind you of what it is like rehearsing in the Hall, hope it is not too long.  All of the little pictures are of Gen as well, if you can see them 🔎🥴

Hopefully see you next week.

Don’t forget to email if you are available and would like to be included in the outdoor rehearsal for the next two weeks, we may have to limit numbers.

REHEARSAL 3RD JUNE

Hi All
Just to let you know in advance we will not be having a zoom rehearsal this Thursday 3rd June. It is half term and people are away and we thought we would have a little break. We will probably tag another one on at the end of July.
Hopefully weather permitting we will have a rehearsal at Natalies on the 10th and the 17th. And then we will have to see what the government has planned for us after the 21st June.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend lets hope the sun keeps shining.

SINGING OUTSIDE LAST NIGHT!!

Hi
This is the post that has been put on facebook for those who don’t follow and also two recordings that Lillian made.
I have said my thank you’s to everyone but I would like to really againthank those that came and stuck to all of the rules, it was lovely to see you all and great that we could catch up and sing together at last.  We are unable to meet outside next week as Natalie is on holiday but we are planning to the following week 10th June.  So watch this space.  Special thanks to Natalie for the use of her garden hope we didn’t flatten your beautiful lawn too much!!

“We finally made it after 63 weeks of not singing together and it all happened last evening.  We have been joining on zoom every week since lockdown but last night we were able to see one another for the first time and the sun shined.  It was lovely to actually hear others singing alongside you albeit from a distance but very emotional and fulfilling.
What a joy to see friends in person after such a long time and to see them looking so well.  Many thanks to the subcommittee who worked hard on the logistics for this to happen, getting  the comprehensive risk assessment compiled and making sure everyone was suitably socially distanced with all of the necessary precautions. Thanks to Lillian and Chris for being flexible with the arrangements and thank you to the choir for sticking to all of the guidelines although I am sure what we all wanted was a group hug 🤗.  We will carry on with outside rehearsals weather permitting until the government lift the ban of only 6 amateur singers being able to sing indoors. Let’s hope it is not too long!!  🎶 🎶 🎶”

NMM Risk assessment – Outdoor Rehearsals – Updated May 2021.pdf

Hi All
Here is the risk assessment specifically for singing outside. There will be changes for when we can sing inside.
Pleas can you read and let me know if you have any queries.
I would like to thank the sub committee for all of their work that has taken place to enable us to sing together and especially Natalie for letting us use her garden.
There will be another email tomorrow and it is important that you read that, apologies it is all so long winded but we want to get things right.

WEEK +11 https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09 Meeting ID: 816 9136 7380 Passcode: Gold

Hi All

It’s stopped raining 🌧⛈🌧 Horrarh!!!   The water butts are overflowing the fish pond was full, it’s got a crack in it 🥴 and the garden doesn’t need watering just yet.

Well hopefully if the weather stays the same we will have our first get together for 63 weeks!!!  This week would have been the last rehearsal before our Summer Concert at the weekend.  Actually we probably wouldn’t have had it this weekend as it is a bank holiday but you know what I mean.

So we are going back to being together and there are no birthday people to sing too, it will never be the same after singing it on zoom 🎶

I hope some of you managed to catch the live funeral service for Brian Garner. The webcast should be available to see three days after the service and available for 28 days.  Some of the New Music Makers did go to the funeral to pay our respects and we were very pleased that we did actually manage to get inside for the service as there were exactly the right amount of seats left.  Roy did  a wonderful job for his old friend Brian who he had being singing next to for over 30 years. It was very moving to see him and Roy on the screen singing You Raise Me Up and also the The Lord is my Shepherd. Brian did have a wicked sense of humour and wanted Roy to read his words and he complained to him saying could you hurry up please because this box was hurting his back.  If you want to donate money in Brian’s memory could you donate directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.

RIP Brian Garner 28.11.37 – 4.5.21
No Tears Please – Only Smiles    That was on his order of service guess what it has made me cry typing it.

THIS WEEKS REHEARSAL OUTSIDE

Can you please start arriving at 6.35.  To avoid crossover of voices could the sopranos arrive first to be seated followed by the Men staying together either as Bass or Tenor and then the Altos.  Can you not come in until you have been asked to by Natalie or Eric.Watch out for tomorrows email for all of the details and health notices.  One of the recommendations is people to have a have a Lateral Flow Test within 36 hours of coming to a rehearsal and they are free to get from most chemists and it does give you a peace of mind to know that the test is negative.

I have sent all of the details but a reminder

YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE
LET THE RIVER RUN
ONE VOICE
SIMON AND GARFUNKEL
WEST SIDE STORY
CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT
WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN

JOIN ZOOM MEETING. Starting at 6.45 pm

We are hoping to zoom the rehearsal technology allowing.   You can log in about 6.45 pm and catch everyone moving to their seats.  It won’t be quite so one to one but you hopefully you will be able to sing along with the rest of the choir.  If we have to cancel the meeting outside we will have the zoom at the normal time of 7.30pm. We will let you know in plenty of time if it is cancelled so please check your emails during the day.

Hopefully see you tomorrow on zoom or in person.  I will be emailing the risk assessment today.  TomorrowIt will be a reminder of the rules and regulations and the Health Checklist please read these before coming to the rehearsal.  Apologies for so many rules and regs but it is required and we want everyone to feel safe and enjoy the evening. Hopefully, if we can do it again, it will not be so complicated as we will all know what we are doing.
