Week + 4. Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09

Hi All

Well last week I was saying how lovely and sunny it was. This week what on earth is the snow
❄️☃️ about?  We  were doing our socially distanced meet up yesterday with some friends, sat outside in thermals, hats, scarves blankets until we thought enough is enough and said we thought it was time to go home when we had a full on snow storm.  OK for us we were going home to a nice warm house my friend Jen and her family who some of you know, thought it was a good idea to be camping in the their garden and Jen was sleeping in the awning!

No Birthdays this week.

My Chris has now digitised all of Martins videos, he has made YouTube versions and they are also on a hardrive so they are now safely stored for the next whatever years.  This does mean that the VHS tapes are really not needed and they do take up a lot of storage and will probably deteriorate over the years.  Would anyone in the choir like them or have any suggestions as to what we can do with them.

Having finished the videos Chris is now digitising about 76 audio tapes going back to 1983.  These are not as interesting as obviously we can’t see who is singing and they have to be played out loud whilst he is recording so that he knows when they are finished.  At this moment we are listening to a Christmas Concert.   Only another 70 to go!

I sent out the information about our Spectacular 2021 Concert and all of the learning tracks can be found on the One drive (find the link on the website).  All the songs are available for you to listen too but can we ask that you do not share this One drive link with anyone as it is purely for use by current members of New Music Makers.

We have a Committee Meeting on Monday 12th April if you have anything that you would like discussed please let me know.

We are also going to sing Jerrys Arrangement of Memories by Maroon 5.  Not heard of it?  Well here’s the link to Maroon 5 singing it.  If you think you recognise the accompaniment  it is based on Pachelbel Canon.

https://youtu.be/SlPhMPnQ58k

Below is the link to Jerrys arrangement with a pdf to print and the learning parts. If you are unable to print the music off let me know and we will try and get a copy to you.

Week +3 – Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09

Hi All

Isn’t it nice to see some Sunshine 🌞 although not sure how long it is going to last, but lets make the most of it.  Well that’s another month nearly over, April Fools Day tomorrow and Easter 🐣🐇 weekend.  Hope you have all got some nice things planned. It is lovely to at least now be able to meet up with people but we still have to be careful and stick to the rules. Not that we need reminding but the more we do to help this thing end the sooner we can all get back together again and sing  🎶🎶.

So not three buses this week but two.  Auntie Eileen Eyers birthday is on Saturday 3rd April  and Margaret Ballard on Tuesday 6th April.  I looked back on last years email at the photographs so have been trying to find some different ones. Not easy when some people seem to be very camera shy.  So if you have a birthday coming up and would like to send me something about yourself and a photograph that would be lovely.  So as I have only just mentioned this I will have to go back to my resources.

Auntie Eileen?  Why do I call Eileen Auntie Eileen a very good question.  Well being a simple woman I get mixed up with Irene, Eileen Elaine and any other combination that I can get confused with and I kept calling Eileen anything but Eileen so to remind me, my godmothers name was Eileen and so I started to call her Auntie Eileen so that I could try and get the name correct.  I bet you are all glad you know that!  I first met Eileen at a musical event at Wildern school, I am not sure how long ago,  and we started chatting. She had the most amazing long plait, anyway I must have talked enough and she came along to join the New Music Makers.  I am pretty sure that the plait had gone by then and she had gone to the very short style that she wears now but not in such amazing colours.

Have a lovely day with your lovely husband Dave.

Margaret Ballard joined the choir in February 2016 and is a Contralto.  Apart from playing the maracas like a mad woman she is a member of the Committee.  I don’t have many pictures of Margaret as she is one of the ones who likes to hide.

Seems I have more of Margaret than I thought something like 88 photos  I wonder what we were singing in the pink? Answers on a postcard!  Looks fun it was at the Berry in 2016.  Have a lovely day Margaret.

Week +2 – Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09

Hi All

Hope everyone is fit and well and looking forward to Monday and being able to Socially distance outside with six people or two households, so things are getting better hopefully. It was Mary Gunns 80th Birthday and a card was sent from you all wishing her well and a Happy Birthday.

Talking of Birthdays, as I said last time, not one, not two but three birthdays this week.  Just like busses again.   I wished Margaret Hockey and Jerry Happy Birthday in an email last year and here we go again.

Margaret is a very special lady in the choir she is our only Lady Tenor and she sings with the ladies when we have a ladies only song. Margaret joined the choir in January 2016.  It is Margarets Birthday on the 27th March it would be lovely to see you on zoom.

A different shot from last year but still the same strange man, and here she is amongst the ladies, I couldn’t find a good one of her with the men. I think Margaret needs to be in the middle of them.  Have a lovely day Margaret.

It is Jerry’s Birthday on the 28th June.  Going back through the old video’s it seems that Jerry has been in the choir since year blob.  He is a great technical support for the choir, because of him we were one of the first choirs to own a webpage which was all very knew to us at the time. He also spends hours making us learning tracks from the sheet music putting each note in individually.  We are very grateful for these when it comes to a new song and especially for the sopranos when we haven’t got the tune — or is that just me?  Jerry is a member of the Committee and is always helping us out with techno questions.  I could have done with his help sorting out the photograph of him when he was Old King Cole in 2008. Should have been a video of him doing a bit of his solo but that didn’t work so we have just got the still.

Not sure when the other photograph was but it was before I joined, so prior to 1998.  Hope you have a good day Jerry.

We have one more Birthday. Our newest member Vanessa Wilkinson’s Birthday on the 30th and on request she sent me some photographs.

It will be nice when we can actually meet up, I wonder what you will think of us when you can actually see all of us and not just our heads.  Hope you have a lovely day Vanessa.

Week +1

+

Hi All

I looked at my emails that I sent out this time last year (on the website – members page) and we had our first ever zoom call this week last year.  How new to us was that! We all just said “Hello” and waved at one another, some couldn’t work out how to put the sound on, so were waving bits of paper around with Hello written on it.  After that we became more organised with social evenings, quizzes etc and then progressed to online rehearsals when we realised that the situation was not going to improve anytime soon.

It is great that so many of us have learnt new technology skills and even managed making some virtual recordings.  Those that haven’t tried it yet, or haven’t been for a while, pop in and say hello. It can be great fun and it is lovely to catch up with people that we are unable to see.  Again  if you would like any help with it Eric can set you up a private zoom call and talk you through how to log on and you will see how easy it can be.

Well Louise was one of the first people that we sang Happy Birthday to. That was when we realised that we can’t all sing together on Zoom, but Hey we still do it just because it is funny.  Louise missed out on the embarrassing photographs last year so I will try and make up for it this year.  Louise joined in I believe in 2008 as a Soprano 2 in time for our last Christmas Pantomime “Lost In Pantoland”.  This is her second time of being on The Committee and she has taken on the role of Choir Archivist keeping a record of what the choir is up to.  She has had a bit of an easy time this year but you wait ’til next year, Louise, you will be so busy you may be sorry you offered to take on the job.😍

Have a great day Louise.
