Lins Emails

Week +1

+

Hi All

I looked at my emails that I sent out this time last year (on the website – members page) and we had our first ever zoom call this week last year.  How new to us was that! We all just said “Hello” and waved at one another, some couldn’t work out how to put the sound on, so were waving bits of paper around with Hello written on it.  After that we became more organised with social evenings, quizzes etc and then progressed to online rehearsals when we realised that the situation was not going to improve anytime soon.

It is great that so many of us have learnt new technology skills and even managed making some virtual recordings.  Those that haven’t tried it yet, or haven’t been for a while, pop in and say hello. It can be great fun and it is lovely to catch up with people that we are unable to see.  Again  if you would like any help with it Eric can set you up a private zoom call and talk you through how to log on and you will see how easy it can be.

Well Louise was one of the first people that we sang Happy Birthday to. That was when we realised that we can’t all sing together on Zoom, but Hey we still do it just because it is funny.  Louise missed out on the embarrassing photographs last year so I will try and make up for it this year.  Louise joined in I believe in 2008 as a Soprano 2 in time for our last Christmas Pantomime “Lost In Pantoland”.  This is her second time of being on The Committee and she has taken on the role of Choir Archivist keeping a record of what the choir is up to.  She has had a bit of an easy time this year but you wait ’til next year, Louise, you will be so busy you may be sorry you offered to take on the job.😍

Have a great day Louise.

WEEK 52 Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09

Hi All

Yes it is week 52 again!!  I thought I had gone wrong somewhere when I typed in Week 52 last week knowing that I was actually away and knew that I had sung once more.  Checking back I had written week 51 in the space in Feb and then went 52 in the space in March.  So this Thursday last year was the last week that we were all together singing at the Methodist Church Hall.  We decided that we should not meet the following week thinking it would be for a few weeks. Who would have thought that it could last a year and still counting?  I certainly would have made sure we took those cakes out of the cupboard 🥴.   Lillian kept us very busy on the 12th March 2020. This is what she had planned for the night:
Here’s the plan for this week: > > > > Joseph Medley > Gold > You Raise Me Up > Pick a Bale of Cotton > Singing in the Rain > Can-Can > Les Miserable > Africa > > Break > >  – Your Song, Fields of Gold, Pinball Wizard, One Moment in Time > >
At least it looks like we had a great night.

So moving on, we had a Committee Meeting on Monday and we are trying to plan for the future.  We have a few things in mind but it will all depend on how things are and what we are permitted to physically do safely and under any government rules.  We are meeting again when the next phase of the “roadmap” has been reached to see how things are.  Hopefully it will all be positive.

Meanwhile Zoom this week. I have already sent out Lillians Email but as a reminder.

Hi All

Hope everyone is well and you have enjoyed the beautiful weather that we have been lucky enough to have just lately.  It certainly lifted my spirits.  Unfortunately we chose today to go for a bike ride and I found out something very important – my coat isn’t rainproof and I got rather wet going through three layers. It was nice to get out and about though.

Not a lot of news this week. No birthdays as far as I know – apologies if I have missed anyone.

The Committee are meeting on Monday 8th to discuss amongst other things what we can do when we can hopefully meet up.  If anyone would like to add anything to the meeting please let me know and we will put it on the AGENDA.

ZOOM THIS WEEK.

I’d like to circle back to the songs we’ve done already and do a sectional if possible tomorrow.

So the plan is:

7:30pm Warmup
7:40pm Sectionals (Men with Chris, Women with Lillian)
Another Day of Sun: https://youtu.be/QlHMoZ-98WE

WEEK 50 Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81691367380?pwd=RUg4SFNPbnRxbUVwQ1gwb1ZKUWZhQT09 Meeting ID: 816 9136 7380 Passcode: Gold

Hi Everyone

Well here we are week 50 and and is there light at the end of the tunnel? “Will we meet again some sunny day”?  If all goes well 21st June (my Chris’s Birthday) seems to be the date that we may be able to think about returning to choir.  We will try our best to keep up with any developments and keep you informed as much as we can.  But certainly something positive at last, how could we possibly have known that things would have lasted this long, I certainly would have made sure that those cakes were out of the choir cupboard in the Church Hall!!  I wonder who brought them in last year?  For Peter and Vanessa, when it is your birthday week people very kindly bring in cakes for the choir to have during the tea break.  Talking of which we have two birthdays this week.

Peter Foster, our newest man, who signed up before Christmas as a bass and has been joining us on our Zoom Calls.  The only picture I have of him is on a Zoom Call.  Sorry Peter.  His birthday is on Friday 26th.

Hope You have a Good Day

Marg Dunne is celebrating her birthday on Saturday 27th March.  You get to have a day off – you can’t go anywhere – but at least you can celebrate at home and not have to bother about work.  The first concert Marg attended was at Christmas 2013 as a Soprano.  Marg has been on the Committee and always joins in and helps with our social events.  She also likes to dress up💃😍

Have a great day Marg.
