Hi All

Not much to say this week, all the birthdays were last week, I hope you all had a good time.

I have heard from Mike Ward who has got me up to date with Lesley and his wife.  Lesley has had a new hip fitted last Wednesday which seems to have gone ok.  She hasn’t done any walking yet and it took her a while to get over the anaesthetic.  Next stop is to go somewhere for rehab and it looks like it will be at Fordingbridge hospital. There is no visiting so it probably doesn’t matter how far it is.  Mike’s wife is at home and is more mobile but is still recovering and keeps Mike busy.

I am pleased to say that Gen and Steve are both much better and seem to be on the mend.  Hopefully we will see Gen on Zoom tomorrow.

Not a lot of news about Mary only that it will be a long long recovery. What a shame we and relatives cannot go and visit any of these poor people in hospital.

Can I remind you again if you haven’t signed the card or wish to contribute to David and Sandie, could you do it asap, thanks.

Christmas Virtual Concert

Sending the email again of the programme for the Concert.  Just a thought, but if you don’t want to video yourselves singing the songs, then how about just recording it and sending in a photograph of yourself in uniform?  Just a thought!

Here is a list of the songs that we will be doing for the Concert.

1. Hark! The herald-angels sing (#23) – ALL
2. We wish you a merry Christmas  – ALL

Week 30 Page 1

Hi All
This weekend would have been our cheese and wine party and we were going to invite past members to have a wonderful evening of food, wine and entertainment. We were even going to get Tom to do one of is amazing monologues. Unfortunately, of course, this cannot happen, so why doesn’t everyone have a night in and just enjoy the wine and cheese. Any excuse!
We have lots of birthdays this week so will be doing two emails as sometimes they don’t send if I send too much.
We have two birthdays on the Friday 9th October. Ladies first,it is Lesley Cother’s Birthday. Lesley is an alto and joined the Choir in the February 2018. Unfortunately Lesley has not had a good time as she fell at the beginning of lockdown and broke her arm and she is at the moment in hospital after another fall and has broken and dislocated her hip and is waiting for an operation. I am sure we all wish her well. Maureen has put some cards through her door which we hope that she will get.

Get Well Soon Lesley.
Next we have Peter Blake. Peter is a Bass and has been in the choir for many years. He has been chairman and committee member in his time. Peter is the one on the right, Marg is in the picture to add the glamour. This was taken at the Old Time Music Hall evening and this is not their normal attire.

Have a great day Pete

It is Pat Jenkins birthday on Monday 12th October. Pat is a Top Sop and has had a very full interesting singing career, singing, I believe all over the world. This is another picture of our Old Time Music Hall singing one of her many solos that she has sung with the New Music Makers. Hope you can have a lovely day Pat.
Philip Hounslow’s Birthday is on Tuesday 13th. Phil is a Bass and joined in February 2019 and was just getting back to choir before the lockdown after an illness so we have not seem him for a while. We hope you are well Phil and you get to have a great birthday. {CAPTION}

Hope you all have a lovely day. 🎂 🥂 🍰 🎺 🥂

Hi All Again

We do have some more good news as we have a new choir member. Peter Foster did his zoom voice test last week and we were very pleased that he passed with flying colours.  He did particularly well in the clapping a rhythm – well it looked like his hands were doing it right we just couldn’t hear him 😆.  The joy of zoom.  Welcome Peter and one day you will all be able to meet us all in person.  I hope it is not too much of a shock.

Probably not the best photograph that we will ever get of Peter, I took it off of the video that Lillian made of the Zoom Rehearsal.

There has been 44 views of the Rehearsal so thank you, Lillian, for editing it for us. Have you watched it yet?  https://youtu.be/xOiEQelJs4s
Christmas is coming to zoom this week. I have already sent you the details of what we are going to be rehearsing but a reminder:-

O Come, all ye faithful 54

Can I also please remind you to sign David and Sandies card. You do not have to contribute but it would be nice if you could sign the card. This is the link.
Watch this space for the next New Music Makers Virtual Song, ‘You Raise Me Up’.
I would just like to conclude with a few catch ups about choir members I didn’t want to add to to the Happy Birthdays.
Firstly on Mary Gunn
We do not have a lot to update on Mary Gunn, As far as we know she did not come off of the ventilator as soon as they had hoped and she is still on oxygen. It is such a shame that no one is allowed to visit her. Not even her daughter who has only been able to see her once.  Of course we all wish her well and we will let you know if we hear anything else.
Secondly some of you have seen the announcement from Gen Marsh about contracting Covid on the WhatsApp page. I asked her if she would mind letting us know about her experience in the hope that it will make us all more vigilant and aware in our day to day activities if we can.
Email from Gen Marsh:-

Here are my thoughts about our experience over the last few days ,now weeks.

It’s not a very exciting story and from where we are currently sitting, we want that to remain the case!

Steve and I are retired so did not need to go beyond  our local shops in these COVID times. We are however quite social animals , so  in line with guidelines we have ventured further afield!

No eat  ‘out to help out’, but a few gatherings of 6 max ,in  garden.

On every occasion we have followed the rules to the letter:  sanitizing ,masking, social distancing.

Steve came down with the virus on 30th September, complaining of a headache. No other symptoms. No cough, no temperature, could still smell. We were due to meet some friends for a walk ,so cancelled and booked a test.

Steve has no idea where it sneaked in from but he tested positive. Two days later with again only symptom being a headache, I tested positive. I know who gave it to me!!!!!!

On the positive side;

Getting a test was quick and efficient. Booked on line, tested the same day. Steve at Stoneham Lane. Me, 2 days later in Winchester.

Results as promised within 48 hours,

Follow up phone call was quick, if the advice was a little irrelevant to our situation.

We’re both doing ok but Steve clearly got the bigger dose and is struggling more than me. Still no cough, breathing issues or temperature.

Track and trace has been a little hit and miss to say the least.

Luckily we were able to inform everyone we had been anywhere near and they have all self isolated.

BUT,BUT,BUT…. some have been tested, all negative, others have just stayed at home, no one has any symptoms at all. We have no idea how we caught it. And fingers crossed , don’t appear to have spread it!

It has been a real wake up call for us all . Even being really really careful it still creeps in.

Stay safe.

Xx Gen

Thanks Gen for doing that it makes us all realise that this thing as NOT gone away. Xx
