LAST LOCK DOWN DITTY FROM STIR CRAZY BILL (Shakespear)
Alas he has an ailment, – that Lock down crazy Bill
its all of this curtailment – that’s making him so ill.
From where this ailment’s coming we shall find out in good time
but when he opens his big mouth, it all comes out in rhyme.
Hooray to Matt and Becky for their lovely baby girl,
with nappies and with feeding – you’ll live in such a whirl.
and it’s probably too early to guess what she will be
a Soprano or an Alto, we’ll have to wait and see.
Congratulations too – for Lillian and Felipe
a healthy, bouncing baby boy – now! – will there be a replay?
Are three enough? We’ll have to see – what happens in good time.
If it’s four or five, – whatever, I’m sure they’ll all be fine.
What talents will this young one bring, to what will he aspire?
You never know, if he’s a bass – perhaps he’ll join the choir!
I do miss Thursday’s nights, – meeting friends both old and new,
like one big happy family, enjoining love from me to you.
The babble of excitement before the singing starts,
then the exercise and movement which is so good for our hearts.
With ‘chop’ and ‘stroke’ and ‘turn’ – my spine begins to tingle,
I want to be among the girls, with them I wish to mingle.
Our singing, Oh so joyful, our repertoire so vast, but it don’t include Waldteufil (Voltoyful) a composer from the past.* (Skaters Waltz)
Yes, diction is a problem while chanting out each word,
when Chester, cheater, chewed a chunk – it really sounds absurd.
The next few words, I’m sad to tell, I cannot say with ease
but that animal with lots of spots chews cheap, old, Cheddar cheese.
And soon it will be tea time with cake and lots of natter,
with things all round and chocolaty that’s sure to make us fatter.
But first we have the notices with bonus balls and birthdays,
committee notes and future dates, yes lots of happy mirthdays.
From nine till ten we sing again with lots of verve and vigour
after all that cake and tea and stuff we all feel so much bigger.
With ‘Africa’ and ‘I Believe’ and ‘Gold’ and ‘Best of Bond,’
a ‘Million Dreams and Bring Him Home’ all tunes of which we’re fond.
Next we sing out ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Music of the Night,’
Joseph’s ‘Technicolour Dream Coat’ all songs of great delight.
But now it’s time for going home for slippers and for bed
those glorious songs so beautiful reverberate around the head.
But after all is said and done, if singing makes you frisky,
tonight before you go to bed have great BIG DOUBLE WHISKY.
Thank you for your birthday wishes. Please keep well, love and God bless from Roy. XXX. My tipple is Brandy but I couldn’t find a word to rhyme.
Hi All don’t forget to have your True or False A4 sign ready for tonight. If you don’t want to make one you may be able to print the attached pdf. I never know if things are going to work.
